STAR WARS™: Battlefront Classic Collection

I really wanted to love this game, but unfortunately it is just incomplete and buggy to the point that it's not worth the hassle when you can get the original copies of the two games in this bundle on steam anyways, and for cheaper! As someone that plays with a controller I did appreciate the controller support, but at this point I'd rather suffer through mapping my controller to keyboard and mouse inputs or get a mod for controller support than to try and make this game work, especially since the original games have extensive and mature mod support. I mostly played single player and am basing my review on that, simply because no one plays multiplayer anymore so I couldn't find matches when I was ready to try it out :( very sad about how this turned out, there was so much wasted potential.

i think if you want to roleplay playing with no internet on the ps2 like i did as a kid sure, get it, but not for the price point and as a "remaster" nothing really seems like it was freshened up. disappointing but this late to the party i knew what i was getting into

No-one plays this game and it came out this year. Total waste of money.

As of September 2025, this Collection, including two of the best Star Wars games ever made, is “serviceable” enough...if you’re playing locally. Adding split screen (something that wasn’t included in the 2004/2005 PC versions) was the major selling point for me. Now you can play ANY single player mode with someone in the same room, and that includes the whole story campaigns. Also, in BF2: Hero Assault, a mode where you can versus as any Hero or Villain, is available for every map (only ONE map was available back in the day). And speaking of heroes and maps, in BF2: new ones, that existed only in the OG Xbox version via download, are included here, and they absolutely rock! What are the downsides, then? The Collection came out broken, and now servers are empty, so multiplayers should keep away. And, overall: it feels LAZY. It's evident BF1 got WAY more love than BF2 here. BF1 feels pretty polished (no complains), whereas BF2's background main menu videos, FMV cutscenes and others are badly upscaled and HEAVILY artifacted; and even though the game has controller support now, the configuration screen for it is weird and the presets options bugged. It somehow works, though. All this makes me sad because BF2 is my favorite of the Battlefronts and maybe even Star Wars games in general. So, is this Collection a better option than the 2004/2005 classics? YES, but get it on sale. Hopefully Aspyr will finally listen and fix and refine this messy yet promising pack.

The game is still broken. I can't control any vehicles properly, which for me was the whole point of getting this game. They did not seem to have improved it. overall, disappointing. I remember loving the original game.

5/10 only playable on steam deck, forever tainted by bugs for a port.

Pick up on a sale pros Improved AI for both games Slight upscale and improved graphics Bigger battles up to 32 players and each team (64 players) Have no problems running game cons Improved AI they are smart and have snappy aim and on some mission almost making it impossible to beat (Yavin 4, 2nd mission taking the plaza and running the bomb. On Courasant the Library objective. 30gbs download. massive for an old game. overall I say its worth
