I paid $17 on Eneba, you should too! Now, the game itself if what I needed. split screen galactic conquest WORKS! Skirmishes WORKS! Ai path-finding/difficulty = so so Mods? this game needs Steam workshop I havent tried online, but from a splitscreen standpoint the limitation is 2players versus the previous 4player in the 2005 version. I bought this even though I own the original versions because of the updated resolution, controller support, and better overall functionality . achievements are a plus :)
The gameplay is not the issue here. What is an issue is the fact that this simply shouldn't exist. PROS: -Splitscreen multiplayer CONS: -More expensive than buying the games separately???? -Doesn't add anything else -Have to disable steam input for split screen to even work with controllers The only reason I own this is to play galactic conquest with my friends Split screen is already supported on consoles, I should NOT have to buy a whole separate game for more than they cost combined just for that. This should be an update for the game to add split screen support, not a separate title.
The price is kinda steep for a 20 year old game that had aim assist slapped on, but the bugs people were complaining about at launch appear to have been fixed. This is the definitive way to play these games casually now.
The splitscreen co op is a bit wanky and zoomed im, hope they add a pov option sometimes soon, but hey, its there and I had an absolute blast playing the campaigns/instant action with friends. Furthermore the bugs have mostly been fixed, i havent really encountered one in my playtime, and it has all the old stuff+a little extra. And moderns resolutions etc. I recommend it for any star wars fan. P.S. The mods of the old battlefront 2 can be installed on the new one.
Does little to distinguish itself from the original steam ports. It would be great if it had a workshop page.
cash grab
I didn't get it initially after hearing how things were at launch. But I got it today, haven't stopped playing for 5 hours now. I myself haven't encountered any bugs glitches etc, after 3 updates, to me this game is now actually an improvement from the original. Haven't seen any of the issues that were on the OG, genuinly having fun with this. I don't think this one positive review will change the hundreds of thousands of negative ones stemming from the poor start, but tbh this game is playable now, and I'd argue better than the OG's.
Replaying Star Wars Battlefront II gave me a wave of nostalgia and took me back to my childhood. Spending sleepovers at a friend's house and playing their copy on their PS2. You can get a couple hours of enjoyment from both game's campaigns and can play galactic assault. But the online servers are completly dead as of 2026. So you can only expect to play single player stuff. If you're wanting to relive your childhood, grab this game. But only when it's on sale. As it's not worth the full price.
Waste of cash
I dunno whats with all the hate. I hardly see people on here but everything seems fine when I do. Its the best Star Wars Battlefronts in one place with controller support and working servers.
