At a Glance

(Adult) Content Yes, (F) nudity.

Censorship No. Woot! How they affect the game is not made clear, but they can be freely chosen before starting a stage. This title is your standard "strip-'em-up", which is basically a shoot-'em-up where the goal is to strip a woman by accomplishing one or more tasks (which usually involve lots of shooting) In Star Goddess, you shoot at turrets (to remove lady's clothing). By collecting power ups, you can increase the number of projectiles that you fire (which will fan out increasing your range of effectiveness). There also power ups which speed up your ship, and shield it from incoming damage. As you complete stages, you will unlock wallpapers (to use on your PC). These can be found on your PC's "Pictures" folder, under a folder called "Star Goddess". Interestingly, you can actually create your own wallpapers. From the "Gallery", you can paste (unlocked) characters as decals onto a background. Once you've arranged them how you please, you can save the image as a .png for personal use.
Story
Centuries ago, the gods of a realm called the Higher Planes lived in harmony. Scholars suspect that the dissappearance of one goddess' daughters was what disrupted their harmony. Her name is Mirajane, and she's evil (and sounds an awful lot like "mary jane"). The protagonist (who is you) encounters a distress call. Saori is one of Mirajane's daughters, and she needs you to rid her of her clothes (by shooting them off). She reveals that Mirajane is displeased with her daughters' sexuality, frowning upon their lack of sexual encounters with men. Her daughters escaped to our world and disguised themselves as normal humans, hoping to evade her wrath. Well, Saori was caught redhanded, and you save her rear. She uses the power of hypnosis to reveal the location of two (out of eight) of her sisters. Mirajane has a fleet of starships, and she's destroying our world to punish them all. It's up to you to stop her, in one final showdown.
Visuals
The titlescreen is simple and reasonably appealing. From "Options" you can adjust sound settings, or pick a control scheme. Overall, I thought the user interface was good. The in-game assets look a bit varied, and seemed discordant. I suppose between the space theme, spaceships, and anime girls I didn't find a coherent style. At one point, there's a scene where a demigoddess "hypnotizes" you. It was so, so badly animated that I felt that I needed to mention it. - The Goods - The ladies look really, really well drawn. Maybe not professional, but high-quality for sure. Expect basic female nudity.
Verdict
This is a fun, cheap lil' game packing a short story and a fistful of nude goddesses. If you want an easy-peezy strip-'em-up, I'd give this game a looksy.
Edited 12/25/19: Changing to thumbs down as the game seems to have been abandoned. This among a few other games are why I tend to avoid Early Access games with a couple exceptions-more often than not they never get finished. This game is still going to be in early access for a while (it's maybe 30% done) so while I do recommend it based on my initial experience, you may want to wait a while to buy just because there are only 3-4 playable stages of a planned 10 at this time. What there is right now is good, it's a vertical scrolling shooter with elements of series like Deep Space Waifu-you have to help save girls by destroying asteroids, turrets, etc. and as a result stripping them of their clothes. You can play with either a mouse/keyboard combo or a controller (with a controller it's dual analog stick controls), which are responsible either way but a tutorial/how to play section or instructions would be useful as you have to figure it out yourself. The artwork is nice, the girls are drawn somewhere between original and anime-style (full uncensored nudity), and the background music is good too. I like what it has so far and the $3 price is reasonable for the game and a gallery option that lets you make your own wallpapers with girls you've finished. It's worth getting if you like DSW or similar games, but as it's still early in development you might want to wishlist this and wait until more content is added because it's far from done.
The game in its current state is a great stepladder to something fantastic, i enjoyed the bullet hell elements and found the level of adjustment is small but noticeable. Game: The game for me sits at about 6/10 as for now because it is obviously lacking some key features which i'm sure are being developed this very minute. Gameplay is enjoyable and keeps you on your toes when fighting turrets themselves but outside of that the transitions fall a little weak consisting of pre-determined enemy spawns that pose no threat unless you are on "Hard" mode. The levels of difficulty feel unbalanced as of right now and i would say 'Normal' difficulty could pass for easy as it lacks a certain amount of danger and feels more like a blindly assembled mashup of enemy types. Where as, 'Hard' mode feels like an actual challenge and creates adequate danger where it's predecessor failed promoting adaptation from the player which i feel could be used where it is or even become the new level of normal with a tightened down 'Hard' mode by eliminating power up spawns and offering the player fewer lives. Additions: I feel an upgrade system of some sort would be a great addition to the game rewarding players for achieving feats in battle and adding a certain amount of re-playability going forward be it a minor increase of more moderate depending on if you would decide to scale the battles to the level of the player and have multiple layers of levels that chronologically become more intense. Story lines: This is probably in the works but a dating sim esque side project would go a long way to push investment from players into playing more to unfold the backstory behind each of these pursued demi-goddesses, (May be a lot of work though, just wanted to be optimistic because i have high hopes this turns out well. Overall: I really quite enjoyed the "Demo" run of the game so far and would greatly recommend it to anyone that likes bullet hell games and fantastic art. I really hope it gets the attention and love it deserves.
I like the gameplay and premise there are just a few things that need to be improved before the game is finished. -I feel really slow, the movements are also not very consistent it seems sometimes. For a bullet hell game I need quick consistent movement, I was so slow dodging easy things was hard because I could not move out of the way in time sometimes. -hitbox, the entire ship seems to be a hitbox. since I do not have a choice in ship yet and with what i said about movement before this also makes it hard to dodge things, i have to completely go around things i feel like i should be able to go inbetween instead. Otherwise it seems like it has the potential to be a decent bullet hell game - with rewards for winning. If my complaints are fixed and it gets a lot more content I would recommend this game for the price for sure.
Its a fun wee game. Cheap n cheerful sentimental shooting type clone. ( and if you remember sentimental shooting well done true gamer....we all know deep space waifu was not the first ) Nice music too, sets the mood. One thing thou. the ship moves slower than a week in the jail. I dont recall it being that slow during the early days. At first I assumed the pick ups might make it more nippy but no. This leads to a ton of cheap deaths where you have no way to avoid it. Still worth a wee bit of your time
Despite my lack of time spent playing this, I can say that the game has improved. In the beginning when I loaded the game I couldnt get my ship to move. Thus resulting in death almost the second I loaded in the game. But the Dev noticed my issue and promptly fixed my issue. Now I can play the game it was intended and I can say from what little time I have spent I do find myself enjoying it.
