After the 50 or so hours I've put into the game, I cannot recommend it in it's current iteration. While the gameplay loop may bit "simple" (enter map, hold down button to trigger your macro'd skills, and just move around the map taking out mobs), it was still a mostly enjoyable experience from the amount of customization you can do with your skills/loadout. Unfortunately, the game is filled with bots/cheaters and the developer's answer to this was to have the players stop and perform a captcha to continue gaining items/exp. This has done absolutely nothing, to no one's surprise, to stop the botting. The only reprieve from bots is to use a consumable that grants you a private instance of the map you are currently in for a very short period of time, 15 minutes. Maybe if the developer's decide to actually tackle the bot problem, I'll return and continue with the cozy grind experience.

It feels like a great game but falls flatter and flatter every 10 levels, you go to a map, spam your skill for hours to gain one level and repeat. *Mobs have a predictable drop, nothing to expect, no surprises, no RNG hype *Once you move map there is no need or whatsoever to go back, if you need some low level material, just buy it in the AH *Once you complete a monster research the rewards only apply to that specific mob, no permanent upgrades, no collection and completion satisfaction, it feels vain to even look at it *Lacks of things to do or achieve, I'm pretty sure a lot of gamers playing this particular game have played Idleon before, where you have a LOT of things to do if you don't wanna just fight and lv up, a lot of surprises, drops, collections, mini-games and every new map have its own new mini-game or surprise to do, but here, there is nothing and becomes sad. Yes you have dungeons where you go and kill, another dungeon where you mine and kill, and another one where you fish and kill and.... it feels more like a chore than an experience. *Professions are mad boring, go use this skill, look for the rock or plant that shines in the dark and collect it. Now do it a thousand times to earn one level. And Crafting professions are even worse, use a ton of materials to produce garbage and repeat, but the AMOUNT of materials required makes it really bad to even want to do it, cooking for example, Grilled clam requires 1 clam (fishing) and 1 salt (mining) and you require 3 grilled clam + 3 red herbs + 3 green herbs +3 blue herbs to do just one singular plate, and this is low level cooking btw. *"Battle pass" comes with no currency at all and every single customization is paid, and I usually don't mind because you just play the game, BUT EVERY SINGLE color you want to use, paid it to unlock it, you want a hair that does not look horrible from the free selection of around 5 haircuts? paid it!, you want your numbers when you attack to look different? paid it, you want to have more than one color at the time with gradient? paid!, you want your body or your eyes another color? well, you get the issue. *"Classes" (specs) are not unique, they all feel flat, mages practically have no animations nor the classic magical sensation, swords specs don't convey the hit or impact of the blows, it's simply an animation that appears to hit the air, and that's it. * If you kill an elite, the drop goes only for the one who did more damage * Chat UI too small (also, it has the classic paid "Megaphone" from asian games that we all hate) * Shop Battle pass UI incomplete, you have no details button to know exactly what are you getting and how much time are you getting the benefits *Guild UI not appealing for members, I can see how guildmasters would struggle trying to encourage members to donate their crystals (gold) to activate buffs (you should make them permanent or make guilds to not give benefits, otherwise no one will care about guilds and socials, Everyone will be looking to see which clan has the best buffs) *If you paid in-game and you notice later that you can pay exactly the same and receive exactly the same but in Patreon and ALSO obtain a cosmetic name medal if you had paid there, your're f like me :-) *Quest are "Go and kill" that's it, the only exception is the daily quest "Go and obtain this material" that translates to : "Go and buy this on AH" *There are no events, time events, special attacks, invasion, golden mobs, or whatever boredom distracting fat-collector farming adhd event you might be used to *needs more furries The good things: * It is not P2W, that's a big one *You can see other players and that makes it more alive *You can play an instrument to pass boredom *It is still beta, so there are good chances to improvements! *It only requires a potato and two healthy neurons to play *Furries And that's it! Please don't get mad at my opinion of the game, I know you little freaks love to get mad at another's opinion <3 Also, DEVS! please, add a Warlock spec! pretty please!
A player with 400 hours got banned for no reason, and the appeal won't tell you any reason. Many players in the Chinese gaming community have said they've been banned without reason, and very few actually get unbanned. You could say the GMs handling bans are clearly discriminating against Chinese players. Some players even got banned just for using the Chinese client. Let these LGBTQ idiots, who can't figure out attribute gains and only care about identity politics, play for themselves.

Such a stressful game to grind. If you have any empathy for others. You'll feel bad the moment you are better geared; and like garbage the moment you're undergeared. No one attempts to party with you. Everyones first reaction is to see if they can muscle/bully you out of the area. I like being nice. This game wants me to be an a-hole to progress. I can't deal with it. Moment I ran out of Dull Mirages to spawn private locations, I ran out of patience shortly after too.
Wow that was only 2 hours of my life? That felt like so much more... This is Maplestory................... if you dont remember what Maplestory was like. Its just endless fetch questing against blah sprites without any soul to them really. I think the level of pixelation in this game is really to its detriment. A lot of the enemies you fight just feel like generic blobs, and they dont really do anything interesting except slowly waddle towards you with ever increasing hp inflation. Yes that sounds like old Maplestory so far, I get that. But Maplestory had something more, it had soul. Especially in its music! This game has multiple sound tracks but it sounded like only 1 was playing 90% of the time. It also has this god awful sound everytime a crystal hits the ground, and I dont think it was limited to just my own crystals but EVERY crystal that anyone dropped! Sound Design is important, and this game misses it by a mile. At first I thought this was kind of cool, because there did seem to be some really free form variety for builds. And I can definitely see the potential in this, I dont think the skill tree is actually bad.... unbalanced? You betcha. I decided to go for a magic tank sort of setup... I say tank but all of my buffs were still damage buffs that even the DPS would of taken, but anyway. This setup was kind of cool because I had the ability to easily refresh my magic shields but beyond that, I used the same skill for almost that entire 2 hours hitting a maximum of TWO enemies at a time. Meanwhile half of the people around me are blasting entire platforms off the face of the planet with bow skills and what looked to be the Priest skills. As you can see by the start of this review............................. this was boring! Two hours? You could of convinced me if you told me I was playing for 6, that was such a slog.
This game was rather neat of an idea. It's Maplestory, but we're not weirdo chibi-anime looking nob heads. I really hate Nexon a ton, but I love Mabinogi, even though it's trash now. But to talk about this game, again it's a neat idea.. But poorly executed. Sometimes it's fun to mindlessly grind on a game for several hours on end, mindlessly killing everything as you procrastinate doing any kind of work, listening to music, a podcast, maybe some video you wanted to listen to. But it sadly doesn't really get any better than what you first started to do. There's not any real content at the end of the day, it's just another game where you go fight monster, level up, go fight stronger monster, get.. Surprisingly less EXP than you should. The game is truly in MMO in concept, make a grindy chat room that takes a long, long while to get to end game, however it's not fun in the slightest when you reach the real parts of the game. You'll start to notice that you're not dealing enough damage, pick up life skills to make better gear, realize that also takes several hours to both make GOOD gear, with higher stats, and then roll good Echoes for that gear, Echoes are enchants and they can really do a number on gear to make it "better" in the game's eyes. Even though your reward is simply fighting the same kind of enemy but stronger. Sometimes they shoot, sometimes they leap, but you're never really in any danger, unless you never built any survivability, or never went Faith for the heal. I luckily picked Fighter-Faith and didn't care about getting hit because of my high defensive stats, but I never poured anything into increasing my HP, I was all offense still, but the shield gave me defense, and I chose to wear armor, which gives Defense and HP, so no wonder why I would chose offense only as my stats. Apparently, going Faith is just the smart choice, since everyone I saw that was of high level, is Faith oriented, but even if that was, it still takes unbelievably long to get to anything "new." But when I think, "Oh there might be a cool boss like any other MMO." I forget that Maplestory never had anything interesting to me to find. There really wasn't anything engaging, other than trying to think of what build I'd want to do in the future, if the game felt actually y'know.. Engaging. Not to mention that even if the grinding having you to move constantly, it has everything set up to do things automatically, but in the end it turns out that you're not even allowed to AFK at all for anything, which I can immediately tell it's because of bots. WE LOVE BOTS RUINING GAMES FOR PEOPLE, YAAAY!!! In all seriousness that's a whole different can of worms that I'm not going to be assed into talking about, much like how apparently reaching lvl 90+ gets you banned.. I'm at like lvl 51, so I never experienced it. Though it took me like 3-4 weeks to get to lvl 51, which is ass on the mind, especially when leveling takes so long, like Runescape. But with Runescape, there's an actual fundamental, and engaging reason to level each skill, even if it takes literal months to get to 99, you realistically only need to get to 70 in every skill to be able to run most content in the game, granted you need to do more to get into the end game, but the "half way point" in your skills is not 50, it's 92. Which means my 3-4 weeks, might just be quite a few months with the pace I'm going to try and grind to 99, which I don't feel like completing. Honestly, thinking more about this game, I'm kind of glad it was 3-4 weeks, and not several months of grinding for sheer boredom. I'm going back to Runescape.
