The best cart racer in the franchise hands down. the core mechanics and gameplay loop feel great, huge roster of characters and carts (especially with DLC) amazing collection of soundtracks from pretty much the whole franchise, lots of game modes, online works good, no complaints at all really.
The Sonic Racing series has always consistently delivered excellent games, but this one feels like a culmination of all the good things the previous titles accomplished. It's easy to pick up and play, the items are well balanced, and there's so much content in the game that keeps me coming back. The festivals, ranking, and multiplayer options are phenomenal. The only thing I miss from previous games is the story mode, but at the end of the day this is a kart racing game and it does that very well!
I got this game when it first came out, and immediately loved it. I 100% the game and there's still more ingame achievements to complete, also I've put in 222.2 hours into the game and I JUST got the DLC so now I can have more options in characters, karts, and maps. (ngl ive been waiting for the season pass dlc to go on sale since the game came out, but later it was announced we’re gonna get a year 2 of crossworlds, only for me to realize they will most likely be putting season pass 1 on sale when year 2 starts) Anyway I highly recommend getting this game on pc than any other console because you’ll have access to mods, and the modding community loves this game and is constantly delivering bangers, and making this game constantly feel brand new. Since I've put a lot of hours into this game about 7 - 9 hours per game session I WOULD get tired of the maps after playing them over and over again so with the power of mods it would refresh my game so i could keep playing it longer, and it makes me so happy that sega supports the fans making cosmetic mods!!! NOW don’t get me wrong i LOVE MODS but you dont need them to keep the game fun i’ve purchased this game for switch and have put in a lot of hours into my switch copy, the game is still RIDICULOUSLY FUN without mods, i just personally have a deep passion for the community of mods makers. That being said, I haven’t even talked about the free characters, the festivals, the season pass character festivals (that everyone has access too), and Legends competition, OH and also theirs gonna be a Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds World Championship in october of this YEAR, like there is sooooo much cool stuff happening for this game, and it makes me soooo happy for sega and sonic my love for this game is immense!!! <3 <3 <3 Here are my nitpicks: Wish they would have added outfits kinda like in mario kart world but from all the different sonic games Wish they would let us add more decals to the cars Last but not least they should’ve added voicelines to the DLC characters(luckily we have mods to fix said issue, but i dont get why sega didn't feel like hiring people to voice all the dlc characters) 9 out of 10 Would buy again for a third time!!!
It's Mario Kart 8 but better. So far I have played all the current Grand Prix, Time Trial and Online mode. I enjoy getting to customise my vehicle including custom colours and changeable parts with differing stats so you can optimise for your specific play style. I also enjoy the character interactions at the start of and during the races. Sometimes I get randomly disconnected from the server in online mode but that is probably due to my internet strength and region (Australia). I also love the crossovers between iconic franchises including PAC-MAN, Minecraft and Spongebob. The only annoying thing I have experienced with the game is that sometimes I glitch and go the wrong way or clip into an area where I get stuck and it is difficult to turn around but this happens rarely.
One of the best racing games out right now! super fun, lots of customization with a lot you can work towards if your a collector. The graphics are good, the cast is pretty sizeable, overall I think this game is worth it! Ofcourse, worth it doesn't mean flawless. While very affective in what it does, below are some flaws I have encountered. (personally) - Races feel very inconsistent regarding outcome. If your in 1st place it doesn't actually mean much until you cross the finish line because someone can instantly close the distance with the luck of getting the needed item. You can be playing perfectly, and it doesn't matter. The suggestion I have for this problem is allowing the player in first place to (instead of using an item for more speed or offense) use an item as a bumper/protection, this would make the game feel a lot more rewarding. At times I can get 1st place but it doesn't feel like I actually GOT 1st place. - Additionally, the games physics and speed is... buggy. There are times in which everyone is going so fast, every player ends up slamming into a wall or going off-course no matter how well you control your machine this is inevitable once you pass D-C rankings. - While the cast is large, I can be left feeling a bit disappointed at some of the roster choices. If you have only played sonic GAMES then your in luck! If you like some comic-exclusive characters, there is really hardly any. Some characters I'd love to see are Mecha Knuckles or Mecha Sonic (Scrapnik versions specifically.) To my knowledge the only characters here who are originally from comics is Tangle and Whisper.
