Songs of Syx is a fantasy city-builder with vast battles simulating thousands of citizens and soldiers. Start off as a small village and build, scheme, and fight your way towards a mighty empire. The mechanics are deep and true to life, where tiny events can spiral into the collapse of kingdoms.

The game's tutorial and menus are HORRIBLE. Nothing makes sense in the menus. This was very clearly created by someone who doesn't understand English. I wouldn't recommend this game unless they had a major overhaul.

Bit of a learning curve but VERY addictive. I played my first 24hrs in 2 days over the weekend, which i haven't done with a game for a long time without getting bored. The art style is simple but in a quaint retro way. You will learn more about the game through trial and error so if a run doesn't work out the way you want it to just try again as you learn on the way, which I feel makes the game much more rewarding. My only complaint is the propensity for game crashes which is surprising for such a small game file. This however I have chalked up to early development rough edges that I imagine will be patched in later updates. The devs at this stage should include a crash reporting tool whenever the game encounters an error.
Ethnostate, slaves, racism, secret police and genocide or you can choose to play it like dwarf fortress(lame&gay). 10/10 game
Absolutely atrocious controls and UI. Got stuck in the tutorial because I hit some button and caused crates to go like 2x5 or something, and I was never able to get it to go back. I love big strategy games and complex mechanics, but there's too many options out there for me to put up with bad UI and crappy tutorials. You can have complex mechanics deep customization without having bad UI. I can't believe this is 6 years into early access. Don't be fooled by the trailer.
Played early version, saw potential, gave it time to simmer. Came back just a week or 2 prior to this 71 release, and that thang simmered, sauted, sous vided, marinated, uhhh kabobbed It's really good. Little mad at this patch note tho: "Farting sounds toned down." Hope a fellow cultured man makes a braphog mod to fix this
This is an absolute masterpiece of a game highly recommend.
I wasn't sure I'd like this. I never really found much joy playing dwarf fortress, but I do love rimworld. Just like rimworld, I waited way too long to play this one. Whatever put me off about it got lost along with about 40 hours. I found some unintuitive elements, but nothing that really doomed my run. There are several game modes, races, and some meta-progression. the pixels might make you vomit, but it's actually all kinda pretty. the lighting is well-done, and the various character portraits bring some life to the little ants as they roam around. I always enjoy watching my workers clear a field on turbo speed.
The best city builder and empire sim I have ever played. The attention to detail, and the replayability is tremendous, I highly recommend this game.
it IS the best game. it just is.
