Did you love "Sid Meier's Pirates!"? Well these guys dug up the corpse and spat on it, ripped off some of the basics and stripped out the interesting parts, trotted it out as a Flash tier crapfest, and published it on Android phones. And now they're here on Steam to get YOUR money for a ripoff of other people's games, where the winner is determined by who spends the most money in the toxic cash shop. There's only a superficial game here. The game visuals and the game itself are incredibly shallow... think of them as the too-bright, colourful, thin plastic cabinet dress theme on a poker machine at the casino. That's basically what this is. So really, the mobile app "game" is just a veneer, a thin skin wrapped around a nasty, predatory mobile app cash shop. Putting that toxic mobile app monetisation aside... this is a mobile app. I didn't spend thousands on a gaming PC so I could pretend it's an iPhone, and I don't think you did either... this kind of mobile app has no place in your Steam library. As with all mobile scams, you're forced to sign a highly questionable yet legally unenforceable End User License Agreement... for such a relatively low effort, low quality mobile app, this is specifically designed to invalidate your consumer rights and destroy your right to privacy. This agreement includes questionable requirements that may attempt to revoke consumer law protections that gamers expect to have, which is also highly problematic. Developers must learn they are here to serve gamers, not control them. I had my cat walk over the keyboard while the EULA was displaying, which fixed that problem for me. This game is fairly dated at 8 years old... and even back then it looked old and busted compared to contemporary, professionally made 3D games of the same period. It looked bad then, it looks worse now. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. In terms of public reception, this failed to appeal to the 130 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at just a dozen or so concurrent players, and now there's basically nobody playing it. Even though it's free. This is a dismal public reception, but it's easy to see why gamers rejected it. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. There's no up front cost here, but I still feel like I got ripped off, and I didn't even spend any money. That's how bad this is.

I had a really frustrating experience with this game. First, the tutorial is a complete disaster. It doesn’t properly explain the controls, and I had to figure out how to move the ship on my own because it never tells you to use the left mouse button. Then, when I finally started moving, I accidentally went out of bounds, and since the tutorial got stuck, I couldn't progress at all. Second, the pay-to-win mechanics are overwhelming. The game constantly bombards you with pop-ups trying to sell in-game diamonds, which is extremely annoying. Another major issue is the insane amount of cheaters. As soon as I logged in, I saw hundreds of duplicate ships, clearly created by hackers. There’s no proper moderation, and it ruins the experience. Finally, the combat system is painfully boring. All you do is move next to an enemy, press a button, and then just wait. There’s no real skill or strategy involved, making battles feel dull and repetitive. Overall, this game feels abandoned, poorly designed, and overrun with cheaters. I can't recommend it in its current state.
