This is neither fun nor frightening and I have no idea how this got the positive reputation it has. it's plain, flat and really really boring
REALLY Worth It.
The game mechanics are pretty simple; Fix things, Solve puzzles, avoid ... whatever that was ! If you're a fan of existential horror, this WILL scratch that itch but if you're more into the more fast action paced "horror" it will definitely push you away. It's designed to build tension through logs, lots of audio cues and the implication of what's actually happening. Personally i think SOMA is an exceptional story, it's basically the strong point of the game is the story; it asks very deep and profound questions about identify and what makes you; YOU. The situation that happens all around the PATHOS II and the story it leaves behind is definitely something you might want to check out. Overall a good addition to your library ! in a sale; GET IT ! ! ! if you're into this kind of existential horror ! At the time of this writing; Frictional games are working on the next installment that's called "ONTOS". Hopefully, it will give us another great story ! Excited and waiting for that game too ! :)
Possibly the best horror game there is.
This game really makes you think about what it means to be human, and alive. In the modern day this game is not only a possible outcome for humanity, but a somewhat likely one The rise of AI technologies is ruining our planet, it is slowly becoming uninhabitable, and it wont be long before our reaching for the stars, falls beneath the waves. This game is Science Fiction, and not reality, especially not for it's time, but as a species our technological advancements have done, both a lot of harm, and a lot of good. The rise of AI is a risk to us all, if we start copying people, and uploading them to digital worlds, or artificial constructs, we will all be lost, no one will know who is who. We WILL lose what it means to be alive. This game is a cautionary tale, it didn't begin that way, but now we must heed its warning, whether or not you think a copy of your brain, continuing from an exact snapshot of yourself is human, doesn't matter, what matters is staying alive. A copy of you will not be alive. Whether you like it or not, you will eventually die. Dying is a part of living, there is no life without death, and no death without life.
Overrated annoying garbage of a videogame
Boring and unintuitive; im sure the story is fine but the gameplay is worse than watching paint dry and seems phoned in. Why does it let you interact with every little item you find when they have absolutely zero meaning for the overall story. Extreme realism is so much fun, I LOVE picking up items with no value and staring at them. Like the books around my apartment, I just stare at the covers just because i can; im so glad someone finally made a game about that. It wouldnt be that bad if the game didnt encourage this behavior. The first thing you have to do in this game is take ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ medication in your dumpster of an apartment. It forces you to look around and to be curious when there is 0 substance in anything. WHY ARE YOU PUNISHING ME FOR LOOKING AROUND WHEN YOU MADE EVERYTHING INTERACTABLE. Fetch quests, and boring "puzzles" needed to progress makes the game unbearably mundane. Im not gonna bother playing the rest because other reviews have said that is throughout the entire game. The only reason im bothering with writing a review was because i was excited to play this and i despise when developers dont know why people play video games and dont seem to be burdened with the fact that they waste people's time because they just care about that check.
