The aesthetics are really cool as is the overall story. You can smell the inspiration from HL1 and I found the environments similar to Doom 3 as well. The gameplay is a bit lacking in certain areas, especially the monsters, which are a nuisance to deal with at best. The story does it's best to pose some existential questions which you might find interesting, if you're new to philosophy, but which you might find a tad bit boring, if you already thought about them. Also it runs great.
I finally got around to playing the critically acclaimed SOMA and I’m kind of surprised by how much I really really did not like it. Spoilers ahead. I guess I expected more exploration of the psychological horror of having your mind simulated but it really just served as an almost subtextual backdrop to the scary monsters trying to kill you. I found the WAU interesting and was interested to learn more about it. Like for example: why did it bring you back? To launch the Ark? If so, why did it fight you every step of the way? It’s pretty clear by the end though that the WAU doesn’t get the writing it deserves; it’s just there to be spooky and create some f*dged up experiences for you along the way. We don’t even really get to see the impact of killing it. It felt impossible to miss the big “twist” at the end. The game treats it like it’s this huge, shocking moment while I think your average player have figured it out long ago. I was rolling my eyes at Simon, who’s already forgotten he’s just the latest copy in what seems to be a long succession of them. The developers really didn’t seem to think about how the Ark and the WAU literally had the same objective. In my mind they were setting up for a reveal that the conditions aboard the Ark were not what we’d hope or imagine, inviting that comparison. And so the player would have to choose between consciousness at any cost (alluded to in the surveys, by the way. Abandoned?) and dignified death. But as you can see after the credits we can pretty much take everything about how great the Ark is at face value, with the only really messed up thing being that “we” don’t get to experience it. It lands so hollow to me. They had a solid premise here but I think they could have asked some more interesting questions. I also just found a lot of the mechanics annoying. Most of the game is sneaking away from monsters and solving puzzles in stressful situations. This is done pretty well (except maybe for one really drawn out section), it just also happens to be the least interesting part of the game. It never felt like you got a big enough lore drop as a reward for the effort you put in.

incredible story! A really fun universe to explore. Creepy atmosphere all around.
Enjoy!
The Best 12 hours i have ever spent, like the style is like very black orrientated, the story for me is quite phenomenal, like i was thinking, this was gonna be something mid and i personaly cant handle much horror in video games, but this game felt really awsome and it wasn't too scary, nor too weak on the horror aspect. I 100000000% would play it again, if i would get the chance
Very good game, felt very immersed and hated every part of it. Would recommend to anyone else.
