It's awesome! I finished three endings, I love this game, no jumpscares, but awesome story and atmosphere. Planning to 100% this game. If the dev ever plans to add more subtitle languages, please add Czech.

呜呜呜作者太吓人了
For being such a short horror title, I really enjoyed this game. Puzzles were interesting but not overly difficult. Character voices were rather well done as well. The 2D cutscenes had some really good art, even if in game character models were a bit lacking. The biggest thing I liked was the fact that you do not have to play through the game to get the different endings, the chapter select was a nice touch in such a short game. I did have some confusion with the plot points but not enough to make a huge difference to my enjoyment. Well worth the couple dollars for a fun time!
In short, Solitary in the Library is a short and sweet horror game that takes around an hour to complete. With a cleverly designed plot that will have you doing few more playthroughs just to understand everything. The price tag being around $3 USD, this is a steal or an entry level horror game for anyone who wants to start out. In long and SPOILER warning, there's 5 days in the game where more or less you will be doing the same thing, but each day something different happens until day 5 where everything collapse in onto 1 of the 3 endings in the game. The gameplay loop is very simple: You pick things up, put them in places in order to progress. There are puzzles throughout the game, and there's only one that I never really like which is the 8-puzzle in the safe (but also thanks to the game, I developed a personal strategy to work on the puzzle in the future.). There's also a chase scene, but that's about it. The environmental detail is also really good, to the point it felt like I am actually a student in a school in Japan working as a librarian, a civilian going to a Japanese convenient store, as well as a Japanese teenager living in a Japanese home. The game is short, but the dedications the developers put into the details is anything but. The horror? It is not a jumpscare fest, nor is it The Grudge/Chilla's Art level of horror. You can call it "lite", but I would call it more down to earth as there are supernatural forces in play, they will influence you to do bad things or teleport you psychologically to another dimension to hopefully trap you there, but they couldn't manifest a physical form to stab you with a knife. That's why I said in the beginning that this game is an entry level horror game for anyone who wants to get into the genre. The story is simple but well written where the twist is in the middle of the playthrough, out of nowhere, and it stunned me for a couple of second. It is not bloody nor a jumpscare, but you as the audience watching it unfold would like to know what will that character do now? There's also a lot of hints and foreshadowing to help you understand some of the things that were not well or outright explained. However, despite the praise, I do feel like the characters in game can have more personalities behind them instead of just being a set piece for us the player to guess over who is the bad guy. They have characters, but it is pretty shallow. For example, I actually wants to see what the conversation is like between Yamashita and the MC after the MC was almost drown by Yui and are walking home together. Because you cannot expect me to believe Yamashita didn't escort the MC home after that, and weren't talking to her while escorting her. In conclusion, the game is short but sweet. The fun gameplay loops and puzzles, the amazing environmental details, and simple yet intriguing story had me wanting more. Although the characters I felt need more developments put into them, I am looking forward to what the developer has installed for us in their next game.
