Solitaire Expeditions

I refunded this game. It was too frustrating trying to make the game go during the "expedition" part of the game. I clicked and clicked and clickclicklcickclickclickclick all over the place trying to make it work. Seriously, I don't know how the devs thought this game would sell when you can't play it! The Free Play part of the game worked fine, however. It's just a big list of solitaire variations and you scroll down and click on the one you want, then click on the variations of that variation (if any) and play. Easy peasy. Now it might have been worth the price on sale just for the huge list of solitaire variations but I was pissed off that the "expedition" part didn't work and that's what made me buy the game in the first place. So buyer beware. I didn't have much luck trying to play the "expedition" but maybe I missed something and you could play it fine. Who knows. Just take my experience into account when deciding whether to buy the game.

Solitaireが遊びたくて何となく入れてみましたが、すごくいい感じです。 日本語のレビューが1件もないのが不思議なので宣伝の意味も込めて投下します。 〇Solitaire Expeditionsの特徴 ・180を超えるルールがある とにかくたくさんのソリティアがあります。ただ、180といってもほぼ同じようなルールがあるので、体感もう少し少なめです。(スパイダーソリティアのスートの種類数(1種類、2種類、4種類)がそれぞれ別ルールなど) それを差し引いても、これだけたくさんのソリティアのルールが入ってるゲームは中々ないと思います。 このゲーム買って、「あのルールがない！」ってなることは無いんじゃないかなと。 それぞれのルールごとに勝数と敗数が記録されたり、1勝するごとに実績解除されたりと、目に見えた成果が分かるのも大きいです。 難易度も申し分ないです。 簡単な難易度はある程度適当でもほとんど勝てますが、普通の難易度だと運も絡んできて中々勝てないです。 最高難易度は何か宝クジでも当たるくらい上手いこといかないと無理です。 と、難易度の幅も広いです。 ・とても遊びやすい設計 タッチでも問題なく動作する Undo、ヒント機能がありサクサクできる 180あるルールをソートして探せる(難易度、自分の勝率、全プレイヤーの勝率など) など、すごく遊びやすく作られてます。 このゲーム買って操作しにくい！遊びにくい！ってなることは無いのかなと思います。 ×気をつけるポイント ・日本語非対応 英語のみ対応してます。 ルールのベースはソリティアなんで雰囲気で遊べますし、英語も簡単なので頑張って読むか翻訳ツール使えば何とかなります。 結局、ほとんど見るのはトランプなのであんまり困らないかなと。 ■まとめ ソリティアを遊びたいとか、ちょっとした暇潰しを探してるとかって人にオススメなゲームです。 ぜひぜひ、180あるルールを制覇してみてください。

Before you roll your eyes, keep in mind that there are some versions of solitaire that require deep strategy. Yes, some of these are simple like Yukon and Free Cell, but some of them are very deep and fun to play. This game is extra special because it has a way to play a sort of “solitaire’s journey” across America, a mega-game where you choose two states and have to play your way across America, earning points as you play a variety of games, from easy to hard. You can unlock new backgrounds, cards, and card backs, which is charming. If this sounds familiar, then you are probably over the age of 50 and probably recall a game actually entitled “Solitaire’s Journey,” which was published by a company called Quantum Quality Productions (QQP) in 1992 for Amiga, DOS, and Windows. They also published quality games (the name was accurate) like “Perfect General” and “Conquered Kingdoms,” and this was their premium card strategy game. Each game has a guide to how to play and an example of play. [b]WHAT COULD BE BETTER[/b] The game does feel a bit like a port from an old Windows game, probably because it probably is. Having said that, it does not distract from the experience, which is phenomenal. Just do not expect tons of bells and whistles. It does what it does very well, which is present a ton of great solitaire games, all in a very simple interface. Really, the only improvement that could be made is better graphics, but that might only distract from the base experience, so I really do not mind how it all looks. The developer is actively improving this game, so it is only getting better and better. [b]IF YOU LIKE _____ THEN YOU LIKE THIS[/b] Solitaire. That is it. If you are into easy, medium, and hard difficulty solitaire games, there is nothing better I know of that exists on Steam. [b]HOW GOOD IS IT ON STEAM DECK?[/b] You will need a mouse. No joystick play for this. The music, which was an amazingly wonderful part of the old “Solitaire’s Journey,” does not work on Steam Deck as of this writing. Other than that, it works like a charm with a mouse on the Deck, especially if you hook it up to a second, bigger screen. [b]HOW MUCH SHOULD YOU PAY?[/b] I wish I could have paid more than the asking price of $11.99. Seriously. Yes, it is not the prettiest game, but this is a card game, and it is more than serviceable as far as graphics. Do not bother waiting for a sale--if you know you want dozens upon dozens of well laid out solitaire games, give the developer the well-deserved twelve bucks--more than worth it!

Meticulously crafted; does one thing and does it exceptionally well. The only thing I could ask for would be a default suit order for the foundations. That's a nitpick. Every other necessity and preference I could think of has been covered. And I can have duck decks.

A great solitaire collection -- perhaps the only one you'd ever need. There are SO many variations in this game. Yes, at the end of the day, they're mostly very similar, but it's still fun for any fellow card-sorters out there :) And there are lots of solitaire card backs/decks/game backgrounds to unlock, so it's plenty customizable. It's given me 35 hours of fun over the past couple years, and the devs are STILL updating with new variants. There's over 180 by now. I like to check in now and again and knock out a few new achievements (there's one achievement for each variant you win the first time) or play old favorites.

Soon after I started my Steam account, I went to work to find a nice Solitaire Card Game, and I found it in Solitaire Expeditions. It has nice controls, basic mouse and click, and nice graphics for the playing cards, including two classic playing card faces. I'm not overly interested in the Expedition part of the game, or at least not yet. Most PC Solitaire games have 5 or 6 variations, but this game has 100+ variations of Solitaire baked in, and this will keep me occupied for years to come. I just hope they add card back and front variations over time. This game is a keeper!

Growing up in the pre-video game era, solitaire meant a couple decks of cards and a copy of Hoyle's Book of Card Games. I spent years working through all the variations listed within and often still turn to the game in times of mental turmoil. Modern computer versions have many advantages, such an enforcement of the rules and not taking over the dining table. Alas, their great flaw is the lack of variety. I own three other solitaire games, by three different studios, and while they differ in story lines and "power ups", the core solitaire version is identical in all three. To the rescue comes Solitaire Expeditions! The visual design is very basic (by design, I suspect), there is no storyline and no power-ups, but it offers 180 different solitaire games, ranging from the ridiculously easy to win to the despair inducingly hard! And what it lacks in prettiness it more than makes up with functionality: complete rules explanations (with gameplay examples!) for all 180 games and a game listing/selection screen that includes sorting by type, difficulty, and gameplay statistics. There's also an expedition mode if you like a bit more structure to your long-term gameplay, but I haven't tried it yet, as I've been happily working my way through the games in difficulty order, which I expect to keep me busy for quite some time. The cherry on top of this delightful sundae is that it runs wonderfully on Linux.

TLDR: If you are looking for a 'classic' solitaire game without weird gimmicks, this is the game for you. This is most likely the largest collection of solitaire variants anywhere. At the time of writing this, there are 200 variants in the game. Many of them are, of course, slight variations of each other, but none are exactly the same. You can look up the rules for each variant either in the menu or even while in a game. Very convenient. All variants are available for play right from the start in "free play" mode. The difficulty varies in several steps from "very easy" to "hopeless". You can also "undo" every move you made or get a hint for a possible move. If you don't want to move the cards manually to the foundations "autoplay" is your friend. If you care about customization options (I don't): You can unlock different backrounds, decks and card backs while you play. The more you play, the more you unlock. I'm perfectly fine with green felt and standard card decks though, thank you very much. There is also an "expedition" mode which I actually never really cared for. If you played something like this before, maybe this is a bonus for you. It can be completely ignored though without missing out on anything of importance. If somehow your favourite variant is missing from the game (I doubt it) feel free to ask for it on the forums. The developer is very active, responds quickly and will more than likely try to add it in a future update. Pro tip if you get frustrated with the higher difficulties: There is a thread in the forums where people provide winnable seeds for the "hopeless" and many "very hard" or "hard" variants. If you use these seeds, the game at least provides a theoretically winnable board to begin with. Good luck!

Sprache: Das Spiel ist vollständig in englisch ohne andere Sprachoptionen. Spielmodi: Es gibt einen Expeditionsmodus und einen Free Play Modus. In Ersterem versucht man von einem (frei wählbaren) Staat in den USA zu einem anderen (frei wählbaren) Staat in den USA zu reisen. Hierfür muss man in (an den eigenen aktuellen Staat) angrenzenden Staaten ein Solitärspiel gewinnen. Es werden hierfür jeweils 3 (einfach, mittel, schwer) angeboten. Während die ersten Spiele im Startstaat noch keine Punkte kosten, kosten alle darauffolgenden Spiele Punkte (200 oder 150 für einfach, 100 für mittel und 50 oder 25 für schwierig). Es werden auch die durchschnittlichen Gewinnraten angegeben, was eine Entscheidung vereinfacht. Sollten einem die 3 angebotenen Spiele nicht gefallen kann man auch 3 neue auswürfeln (Startstaat 200 Punkte und später 300). Sollten einem die Punkte durch zu häufiges Verlieren ausgehen verliert man einen Staat Fortschritt, erhält aber 200 Punkte um es noch einmal zu versuchen. Im Free Play Modus kann man jedes beliebige Sudoku auswählen und spielen oder über "Play random game" sich eins aussuchen lassen (Hierfür wird man zusätzlich noch gefragt ob es eine beliebige Variante sein soll, eines was man noch nie gespielt oder gewonnen hat oder aus welcher Grundsolitärfamilie es stammen soll). Gameplay: Im Spiel werden oben die Zeit, die noch verbleiben Redeals des Vorratsstapels, falls einer verfügbar ist, die Anzahl der abgelegten Karten, der Rückgängigmachungen und der Tipps angegeben. Daneben befinden sich Knöpfe um das Spiel zu beenden, alle ablegbaren Karten abzulegen, Rückgängigtaste, Tipptaste, Regelübersicht für das aktuelle Solitär und Einstellungen. Ablegen einer Karte erhöht die Punkte um 4, Rückgängigmachen verringert im Regelfall um einen Punkt und ein Tipp um 5 Punkte. Die Zeit scheint keinen Einfluss auf die erhaltenen Punkte zu haben. Sehr praktisch ist auch, dass beim halten des Cursors über einem Stapel die Karten unter der obersten Karte angezeigt werden und eine kleine Zahl in der Ecke auch die Höhe des Stapel angibt. Regelübersicht: Die Regelübersicht ist besser strukturiert als z.B. bei Solitaire Forever II mit bis zu 7 klar unterschiedenen Kategorien und rechtsseitig einer Übersicht, wie das Spielfeld aufgebaut ist. Ganz oben wird zuerst das generelle Spielziel erläutert. Darunter werden einige Eckdaten des Spiels, wie z.B. welches Grundsolitär dem ganzen zu Grunde liegt (Standard, Spider, Free Cell, etc...), wie viele Decks verwendet werden, welche Schwierigkeit es hat und wie viele Punkte ablegen bringt und wie viele Rückgängig und Tipps kosten, angegeben. Darunter ist die Kategorie für die Ablagestapel (englisch Foundation) die angibt wie die Ablagestapel aufgebaut werden sollen (Upwards/aufsteigend, downwards/absteigend; Ace to Kind/Ass zu König, oder mit einer zufällig gewählten Startkarte oder ähnlichen Sonderregeln; Und ob alle Karten das selbe Symbol (same suit) haben müssen). Wieder darunter im Abschnitt "Tableau" werden die Regeln des Hauptspielfeldes erklärt, z.B. ob die Karten in absteigender oder aufsteigender Reihenfolge und ob mit gleichen Symbolen oder alternierenden Farben oder beliebig aneinander gelegt werden dürfen; ob Ganze Reihen bewegt werden dürfen oder nur Folgen oder vielleicht nur die oberste Karte; ob Könige an Asse gelegt werden dürfen oder nicht etc... Wieder darunter finden sich die Regeln für den Vorratsstapel, z.B. wie viele auf einmal umgedreht werden, ob diese auf das Haupspielfeld gelegt werden oder auf einen Müllstapel, wie viele Redeals erlaubt sind, etc... Wieder darunter finden sich die Regeln für den Müllstapel, z.B. ob die Karten nur auf die Ablagestapel oder auch auf das Hauptspielfeld gelegt werden dürfen, etc... Hierunter finden sich die Regeln für die Reserve, falls es eine solche gibt, mit z.B. der Anzahl der Karten in der Reserve und ob diese auf das Spielfeld und/oder die Ablagestapel gelegt werden dürfen. Darauf folgen Regeln für Kartenwerte, falls der Spielmodus diese erfordert, und andere Sonderregeln, manchmal in einem "How to win" Paragraphen. Die Regeln sind in sehr einfachem Englisch gehalten und versuchen Standardformulierungen zu verwenden, was selbst für ungeübte Englischnutzer es möglich machen sollte, den Großteil der Spiele zu spielen, vor Allem sobald die Übersetzungen der Standardformulierungen klar sind. Achievements: Es gibt so weit ich es sehen kann ein Achievement pro erstmals gewonnener Variante. Da man im Free Play Modus über "Game Id (Seed)" auch Sätze spielen kann, die andere bereits gespielt haben, kann man auch für die schwersten Varianten auch lösbare Versionen in den Steamdiskussionen zu diesem Spiel finden. Der Entwickler scheint auch immer noch aktiv das Spiel weiterzuentwickeln, das letzte Update erfolgte am 15. Januar 2024 und fügte unter anderem eine weitere Solitärvariante hinzu. Alles in Allem empfehlenswert und die 5€ im Angebot schon wert.
