Slime Climb is a bouncy and approachable pixel platformer, made by a single developer. You play as a little blue slime who's escaped their jar in the middle of a storm, and must make your way out of the tower. There are more than twenty stages, and more friendly slimes to find and rescue as you make your escape.
Cute slimy platformer - feels a bit metroidvania, but is just a big castle to explore. wall slide, hop through gaps, and save other slimes on your journey to escape. Shaping up to be quite nice https://youtu.be/qigW0H_bTXQ

For a dev who did it all on their own, this is pretty good (and it would make a fantastic little mobile game). The controls took a sec to figure out, but once I understood the idea it was pretty addicting trying to get moving around and jumping to various places. It's like a bouncing mechanic and that could definitely be picked up by other games because it adds something more to the whole platforming genre. As someone who doesn't like platformers, this one was straightforward and didn't feel intimidating. I'm planning to dump more time into this once I finish the first Mass Effect.
Before I played Slime Climb, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good
"Slime Climb" is one of literally thousands of retro 2D platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere... and I'm not kidding. Searching for "platformers" on the Steam store page yields over 17,000 results! Is this one of the best of those? Absolutely not. This is a painfully generic, poorly made 2D retro pixelcrap platformer where you control a "slime" and do some really mediocre platforming. At least this is isn't an asset flip... the assets are too ugly for any self respecting asset creator to publish them. Platforming is an old, mostly dead genre, and this lacklustre experience, while it doesn't have an upfront cost, isn't saving the genre... it's no surprise this failed to capture any attention from gamers in the era of immersive 3D gaming. This features really godawful pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks much worse than most other games because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Games like Terraria and Stardew Valley succeeded despite the bad graphics, not because of them. This game is fairly dated at 5 years old... and even back then it looked old and busted compared to contemporary, professionally made 3D games of the same period. It looked bad then, it looks worse now. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. This is "free" enough (not every "free" game in the "free" section is truly free, there's usually some hidden price tag), at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good, and the cost of a game is more than just financial, your time is valuable too. Given that this free title won't increase your game collector count, is it worth your time to add it to your library? I think you should give this one a miss. Although it's free, your time and storage are valuable resources, and the market is filled with superior options.
