Stress free romp.
This is quite the short game you see my playtime that's how long it took to finish it and i wasn't trying to be quick, it's not 100% mind you. but the overall game play is way to little. There are 4 zones (levels) nothing more which is quite lackluster .

Skylar & Plux: Adventure On Clover Island
Fun game. It's sad that it was wiped off the face of the earth.
Just finished playing this over on my Youtube channel (link at end of review for anyone wanting to see a gameplay sample). Sadly, this is one of those games that at some point was removed from the Steam store. No idea if it's available anywhere else, but I'm going to leave a review anyway. Skylar and Plux is a short, colourful 3D platformer with a lot of charm to it. With its innocent humour and simple storyline, it's a nice family-friendly option if you're just looking for a game for a child - though if you're into 3D platformers more generally, it's also decent enough. I wouldn't say this game is anything special - there's nothing groundbreaking about the plot or the game mechanics. But mechanically, what it does do it does well enough - you've got your usual platforming moves, and the game does add on new ones on a couple of occasions to mix things up a little and make for some slightly more varied platforming gameplay. Visually, the game is pretty. The sound design is also fine; the voice acting isn't the best, but it's not bad either. Admittedly - and this is a very specific thing for me to home in on - Plux feels like a rather unnecessary character. Not that he's dislikeable or anything - on the contrary, he's likeable enough. It's just that mechanically, he doesn't really add anything to the game. At least, not that I can remember beyond him just explaining a couple of things about the in-game world. Feels like if you removed Plux, then nothing in the game would really change. But, nitpicking aside, Skylar and Plux is a decent game and if you like 3D platformers, then you may well enjoy this one too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g018yFDOjxI&list=PL05Yc3_TEBpPljQTMtMEikU1hnl0bjhkS
A well designed game in many ways. A lot of things come from the Ratchet series as well as the Jak series. Good OST. Nice story. Interesting Gadgets and Gameplay mechanics. Only downside for me is the length: I completed the story as well as saved most Lo'as in under 2h 30'. Overall a decent game with solid gameplay: 7/10. The rating could be higher if it were a "full-sized" game. Games I would compare it to are the Kao remaster and the New Super Lucky's Tale. I personally find Skylar and Plux to feel "less gimmicky". Although the other games are more complete, while this feels almost like a demo.
massive tragedy that this game randomly got wiped out of existence but super glad i got to play it, hope it comes back some day
Skylar & Plux didn't do anything particularly spectacular, but you can tell it was made with love by a studio that was unfortunately given the raw end of the deal with the game being pulled from digital storefronts by the publisher. What a travesty! It is a very simple game with a couple of cool unique mechanics, but it certainly could have been fleshed out more. Being only about 2 hours long, it was pretty short. For what it was, though, I had a very enjoyable time with it. I think that if the developers were to build on their design for this and give more playgrounds for the movement, especially with moments where switching in between all the powers is necessary to progress, it could be really cool. Add in some things like wall runs or wall jumps and you've got yourself a pretty stellar platforming engine. The characters, for the most part, are pretty par for the course, as is the rest of the game. The more unique character is the villain, who is a giant television with robot hands named CRT which was pretty funny. The dialogue is all very safe, sometimes borders on cringe but I'm assuming the game is aimed more towards kids so it's fine! I can imagine playing this as a kid and having a really good time with it as a first platformer. Maybe one day we can see Skylar & Plux realized to its fullest extent, but until then, I'd recommend anyone who is a fan of 3D platformers to give it a shot. I'm sure there are other ways to get a copy.
