About

I want to be upfront with the community: the current version of Skye has faced technical issues, incomplete systems, and design challenges that have prevented it from fully delivering on its original vision.
Because of this, a full rework of Skye: The Misty Isle is currently underway under the name Skye: Rebirth. Skye: Rebirth is not a patch or minor update, but a ground-up reimagining of the game — rebuilding core systems, world structure, visuals, combat, and survival mechanics to fully realise that vision. This includes substantial changes to gameplay flow, progression, and overall quality, informed by everything we’ve learned during development so far.
If you already own Skye, you will not need to repurchase the game. When Skye: Rebirth is complete, it will replace the current version on Steam, and existing owners will automatically retain access.
This page represents the original foundation of the project, while Rebirth is its future.
We’ll be sharing development updates, features, and progress as Rebirth takes shape. Thank you for your patience, your feedback, and for standing with us as we reforge Skye into the experience it was always meant to be.

Definitely no where near playable at the moment. The game starts by dropping you beside a house on a hill and close by is a man that from the look of things I should be able to talk to but can't because pressing E to talk does nothing. I have no idea where I am or why I'm there so I do what every self respecting player of this genre would do, I run around picking up boulders that are in fact stones, handfuls of nettles and palm leaves that may or may not be sticks all with a sweep of my somewhat jerky punch. After 5 mins of this and with several hundred boulders in my pocket I see what I can build which isn't much but I choose the worlds smallest workbench in the hopes of seeing more options, but after accidentally creating a dozen axes (who knows how) and finally placing my midget workbench on the ground I find I can make a candle and a bed. Fortunately I only need sticks to make these things (who knew?) and so I make them. I then make a shelter and I settle down for the night...only I can't sleep, literally no option to sleep and so i run around in circles for 5 mins to fight of the cold meter that doesn't really do anything anyway but I had too many carbs from the mushrooms I ate (although there was nothing in my hand so perhaps I was simply miming?). Then a wolf howls but it sounds far away, I turn around and it's not far away, it's actually in the shelter with me but it's jaw is wobbling like a marionette with a couple of cut strings while the rest of it stands frozen. I pause, wondering what to do so I make a simple axe which turns out to be quite big and a gently tap the wolf on it's head to see if it's real...it promptly appears on it's side (dead I think) and so I harvest it's remains. It's still staring at me and that jaw keeps wobbling. I head to the guys house to escape the guilt and he is still standing outside, middle of the night staring into the darkness, I try to talk to him again but the 'press E' is still not working and so I head inside to search the chests or sleep in a bed, I can do neither. I sit on the floor with my newly built torch and wait for dawn. As dawn approaches I step outside, the man is still staring into the horizon, perhaps suffering from PTSD after what I did to the wolf so I head into town. The town is huge but absent of people except for the 3 that walk repetitively around each other like some crazy Morris dancers trying out a new routine. I move away from them and with the absence of anything else to do I go for a swim which is more like flying on the surface of the water, too much salt perhaps? I head out but don't need to dry. The town is devoid of life, I don't know where I am, I look up to the hill and the man continues to stare in mute horror. I'm weighed down by the sticks, boulders and nettles bulging from my pockets and my loneliness manifests as the exit menu, I embrace it. Very disappointing, refunded but I may be back in 6 months.
"This feature is not available in the demo", after buying on release. Half of the menu options in-game are disabled, and I can't even use "e" to talk to the first dude I see.
⚠️⚠️Game Is Being Redone⚠️⚠️ Dev came back and is working on it, one person so will say, don't buy yet. Would give Neutral but steam only lets up or down..... thumbs up to DEV for all the ♥♥♥♥, but until playable copy can't give positive yet.... we will see...
EDIT: 22/04/2025: A first new visit was short. Some basic things are still just awful and the horse spawning has not even been fixed what made me quit already. EDIT: 29/06/2024 I saw before some fixes had been released so I logged back in. I found me and my horse under the world's surface, able to explore it all 'swimming' but unable to get out. No unstuck option, I had to restart all over (luckily, I found the game so bad I hadn't been playing for hours yet, haha). I thought they made some map changes but they told me it was an UE5 bug and that they are looking into it. I mentioned some unfortunate NPC's being there too. They'll check some gaps. They avoid my question about loading save games (which for now you apparently only can do after pressing 'continue' first. There seems to be some kind of slider but I can't handle it and I only can load my last progress. The horse forward rebind still doesn't work and the horse spawning at the stable is still a mess. I got it working standing as far as possible from the vendor otherwise the horses spawned in the stable unable to be accessed. As for my new start... I crafted very very fast a club and axe and such just to find better stuff in a loot box two minutes later. OK, the effort was very low but still, it felt underwhelming, just like the fact I also stumbled upon two workbenches very quickly on which one of them I could craft a small backpack. I don't know, what's the point? Anyway, unless I find the right mood to test this further, I think I'm going to put this in the closet for quite some time. ---------------- This is just another game coming out way too soon. - Within the first minute I find a fishing rod and bait. Fishing is awful. - The first guy I see has an interaction icon but I can't talk to him. - The hyperspeed tree cutting animation when keeping the use button pressed was a WTF moment. Tree cutting an sich is awful. - Two small trees near the starting cabin have an immediate duplicate. - 'Pick up sticks' shown on huge trunks on the ground... - Sound settings don't seem to matter much or at all. - Although there are swimming control options you immediately fall down to the bottom from the docks. - No or no good UI response/crafting feedback - Cut off things in crafting bench UI on 3440/1440 (confirmed graphics setting ). - Active item visibility is not working - I killed a wolf and a fox (I think) with my wooden club. It was awfully disappointing... There is even no hit sound. Pushing the dead body when walking against it was nice though, although at first it threw me in the air. - I found extra rods pretty fast in the lower town. When taken, the loot action icon is still there... - A sailor telling me I can't leave as I didn't finish the tutorial but I wasn't even aware of the fact I was in one - There's a guy stuck in the foundation at some stairs which I mostly can't walk up, I have to jump and there's some rubberbanding - Dialog is very weird as the text to choose in on the left giving a weird effect during the conversation - At a vendor, the trade option is greyed out but I can click on it and trade - It's dark very suddenly - Sound regions are very disturbing sometimes - Torches break down very fast - Some tiny heap of something should be considered a workbench - Killing a guy was as bad ad killing the wolf, with a club and with a sword - Immediately free horses all you can spawn - Horse forward key bind doesn't work ... In between discovering those, I probably quit and rejoined back in after a big sigh to just give it another try as this seemed 'just another one of those'. I put this list on their Discord. They replied they were aware of all those issues. I don't know. Being a developer myself, I couldn't be proud releasing that. They told me "they got feedback from numerous industry leaders that moving to EA was the best next step in order to gather this feedback from a larger player base". Of course, that's how society has become, greed, scams, deception... This is obviously not about getting feedback as the devs apparently already had a list to work on but it's just about getting more money straight forward. Don't get me wrong. I often root for the underdog. I'm not all about bells and whistles. For example, I recently bought Island Paradise that has given me quite some lovely gaming hours already. And yes, I know, the world is on fire. There is already enough negativity out there and there are way more important concerns than my feelings about a game but still, it's a part of the world and this one frustrates me as it just mirrors a part of what's so wrong in it today. It's very obvious they need more funding - a lot - but early access should not be the way to go. I really wished Steam changed some policies around that, made some stronger demands. Also, I can't stand people always immediately shooting the 'it's early access' bullet. I can understand there are bugs to encounter, yes. But there are bugs and there is such a thing as 'we just didn't bother yet'. In early access, basics should be covered and not trigger any frustration with players. I prefer less but good. I won't refund this. This caught my eye a couple of years ago but somewhere on the road I unfollowed it. I should have known. It's my bad decision - so far - and I accept the consequences. Well, they got a little bit of my money. Can I buy a hit sound with that? :) Anyway, I will do some further testing, but not now. I'll let them fix some basics first. But if you enjoy finding bugs and ew-ky gaming experience, you go for it.
According to devs LinkedIn hes started a new games company called RE\VIVE Interactive making a basically identical game: The Eternal Throne. Dev said development was ending so he could spend more time with his family in December, but started a new company and a new game in October... if thats not SUS I dont know what is. Bare faced lies from a shady af dev. The game is broken, buggy, unfinished, unplayable, and ABANDONED. Nothing is ever gonna be fixed. Just left up as a cash grab to get money out of people. DO NOT BUY.
EDIT: Now, a worthless "game". The latest patch does little to nothing to address my previous concerns, and now the Studio is shutting down and abandoning the product entirely. DO NOT BUY!!! DO NOT BUY!!! DO NOT BUY!!! DO NOT BUY!!! DO NOT BUY!!! DO NOT BUY!!! Very basic "game", no updates since June. I'd say avoid for the foreseeable future... Yes it looks pretty, but that's it... appearance, no substance. And the devs don't seem to be doing anything about updating it regularly.
This game man...I wanted to like this game so bad it's unreal, however, I played the Demo then bought this game upon release, and instantly I regretted the waste of my money!!! This is no where near ready to be played not even in EA. I tried to look into the skills part of my character and it says "Not allowed in Demo" even tho I was on the full game and I instantly refunded the game. In other words, I payed for the Demo version...DO NOT buy this game as of now save your money or purchase a different title...Buyer be ware!
No not in this state. The game is fun and has potential, but both saves I have my character falls into the map when i load them.
I have only just begun to play. I was unable to talk to the nearby NPC, though it says hit E. Nothing. So I went gathering and chopping trees. That was very easy and I feel it is an even amount of collection/return. I ran into town and I could talk to the stable master. So E is not broken. So I ran back up the hill and built a shelter, bed, candle, etc. Continued and built a house. The mechanics are clunky and difficult to roof., I have a hole in my roof that I cannot cover. Visible seams between walls. Cannot move or destroy anything after placing - so be careful. Buildings in town were fairly identical and without any interaction capability. I went fishing - that was fun. Even with these current issues, the game was fun to gather and build. I will stop playing until there is a patch or two, but I look forward to playing when these issues are fixed. I have no intention of returning it.
Game Studio has been disbanded and the game will no longer be developed. I guess that was pretty obvious since the game devs went silent for a long while. This game had a lot of potential, I was following this since pre-alpha... bummer it will never come to fruition.
