It's just a source of performative, drifting socialization just like a certain selection of VR and other seemingly "social" games. The gameplay is fun and it's nice to meet someone who'll hold your hand while the two of you roam around - literally thanks to the features in this - but you can't do any of the following... - Teleport to friends or have them teleport to you. - Tell them how to contact you on other platforms. - See the avatars of strangers until it's (in this case) mutually toggled (with some exceptions such as a room where you can play a piano for other players). - Set a name for yourself. - Know what to nickname your friends unless they tell you. - Chat with strangers unless you sit at a spot designed for one-on-one or group chats (timed by a candle). - Chat with friends unless you do the previous nonsense OR unlock it mutually on a per-person basis (which requires a renewable yet still limited resource). If you're here hoping to meet people and not feel alone, this game is actively unhelpful. Beautiful, yet illusory and emotionally hollow. It gestures to connection while making it difficult to keep and maintain.
Two best things, the flying around is fun, and the way it looks is magically beautiful. I would say it’s difficult but rewarding. You need to be prepared to learn a few things about this specific game, it is unlike anything else, and be able to devote a good chunk of brainpower to figuring it out. There is a ton of content which is great, but not the easiest to jump right in. The single player world is mixed together with the online multiplayer or something like that and is confusing. The maps and menus are extensive, nested, and only accessible in certain points, and also confusing. Your goal is to find about 5 or so alters in each area, basically a scavenger hunt. Through this you get upgrades, like how far you can fly or stamina, unfortunately I didn’t know which area to go to, to get these upgrades. I couldn’t fly around nearly as much as I wanted to, and the lack of free movement felt unnecessary, since exploring was already hard enough. Overall this game is a challenger to the big names, and I respect it for that. Underdog status is no easy feat.
Good nice looking game only bad thing about it is the difficulty to get decent cosmetics, it's either they are locked behind a paywall thats about 10-40 dollars or super grindy.
My relationship with this game is very difficult. I've been playing it since 2021, and recently came back to it after a year long break due to burnout. I cannot say I entirely regret spending so much time on this game, since I met some great people along the way and made a few good friends. But the sole reason Sky survived for this long, is out of a very peculiar cult revolving around FOMO. After you finish the main storyline which, like Journey, takes only a few hours, Sky becomes a social hub. And nothing more. Sure, there's seasons and seasonal events, but the interactive aspect of them often falls short. So the average day of the majority of the fanbase looks like this: you log in, you do quests, you farm the routes that you know better than your hometown, and log out. Which is why when my s/o asked me why I play this game, I fell silent. Why do I do it? It's part of my everyday routine, and yet I don't even know why. My conclusion is that... it's probably not meant to be played long term. They took Journey, which is a one time experience, and tried to make more out of nothing solid enough to keep you interested. For a story driven game, it's lore plays an important role. And yet, new lore is added in such small quantities that it's practically non existent- But so far, those are the cons. The pros, which still make me recommend this game despite all my issues with it; it has beautiful scenery, lovely music, and flying is fun! It's a nice way to hang out with friends, or to make new ones. So if that's what you're looking for, absolutely go for it. If you're not, spare yourself the trouble.

Feels like a child again
Would recommend to everybody that likes Coazy Games with a very peaceful experience. One feature that i would like to mention is that you can replay every past Season that happened in the Game. This means that you can easily see what already happened in the Game and therefore the Game keeps its old content. Not like other Games with a Season Pass feature.
It's Journey, but bigger, and with more budget. There's plenty of emotes and cosmetics to unlock for your character through gameplay, seasonal events, and tons of content. No combat, all the same emotions as Journey. It is an MMO, so there is some MTX monetization, but nothing crazy. All social contact is opt-in by consent. If you or another player don't want to see each other's character model, you don't have to. If you want to be able to talk to someone or learn their username, you both have to either sit down on the same bench, or both have to consent and spend resources to make it permanent, otherwise you are left with the chirping you get in Journey. Beautiful art style. story and locations very reminiscent of Journey.
Feels kinda predatory to have a game that seems marketed towards children, have it be free, but then have tons of expensive (15-25$) purchases in game. Also, feels like the game wants you to be a missionary.
