Skin and Bones

Very nice game. There is some challenge to this puzzle - platformer but it is NEVER annoying. :) ***BEAT THE GAME***

[h1] <-- Review written for [url=https://store.steampowered.com/curator/35180752/] 3 Point Play [/url] --> [/h1] This one here is a pretty quirky, little platformer game featuring two characters who synergize in order to achieve their tasks. Presented in a really minimalistic fashion, and for that matter, being easy to get into and pretty much welcoming any kind of players, it is an accesible game that even people that are new to videogames might enjoy; whilst I haven't really showed this game to anyone in my relatively closed friend-circle (since they pretty much all play videogames) I reckon this is the truth. Other than that, it's also really lightweight, and it will run on every platform (PC, that is), so it's worth having if you're a platformer fan, and/or if you don't have a end-of-the-line PC. The colourful graphics and easy mechanics, however, conceal quite a challenge later on, so be adviced: if you don't like frustration, then you shouldn't be playing this game (nor any platformers, honestly)

[h1]Here's what you do:[/h1] You play as a human named Skin and a Skeleton named Bones. This game is a 2D platformer where the goal is to collect all the gems on a single-screen level. The characters Skin and Bones each have their own unique skills. Both characters often have to use their skills together to collect all the gems. Skin is the only one who can collect the gems, he jumps a little higher, and moves a little faster. Bones is the only one who can defeat enemies, remove spikes, and stand in water/lava. Both of them can stand on each other's heads, so it is sometimes a puzzle to get one of them to another location to allow the other character to move forward. [h1]What I like:[/h1] + Two characters controlled by one player, each have their own abilities. This gives the game a small resemblance to the Lost Vikings, although this game is far less puzzle focused and more platforming focused. + Multiple worlds with different scenery/environments. These come with their own unique hazards and enemies. + There is a story and small character dialogues between levels (about as much as the Lost Vikings, which is very little). I wish there was more of this, but I'm glad it's at least there. [h1]What I don't like:[/h1] - A lives system requires you to go back to the last save point if you die too many times. The game saves every two levels. So if you beat one level and die on the second level, you'll have to replay the first level to retry the second level. This just seems frustrating more than challenging. - A highscore system based on random letter pickups to spell BONES seems tacked on as there is no predictable way to increase your score and nowhere to view your highscores. - Maximum resolution is close to 480, very low. - The game does not recognize controller directional buttons on the main menu. Controller is fully recognized in-game. Have to use mouse or keyboard to navigate main menu. [h1]Conclusion:[/h1] The game is short, only about two hours, but it is priced low and I like the concept of this game. I wish there were more levels, more to the story, and had some better presentation. I like the gameplay and wish there were more games like this on Steam. [h1]Want a more detailed look? This is a fun little platformer. The two character mechanic on the whole works well, and the game offers a decent challenge. This is classic collect 'em up platforming that plays well and is a lot of fun.
