Experience improved Flick-It controls, the rich physics based skateboarding gameplay that provides those “only in skate.™“ moments and off-board exploration for full freedom in the online multiplayer world of San Vansterdam.

For anyone who has played the previous iterations of this game, this game feels odd on many levels. The controls are similar, yet somehow you're immediately met with a feeling of AI handholding as you're forced to listen to basic instructions over and over again - all while being delivered a series of esteem bolstering graphical statements: SICK! EXCELLENT! GREAT! It's creepy. The game is creepy - yet it is clear there is a strong desire from many of us for another game in this series. I would love for "skate." to feel tangible, real, challenging, but the artificially sounding voice guiding you along made me feel like a child who could not retain instructions. The false 80's-ified colouring is a mask; the lack of aesthetic choices for your character creates a sense of restriction. The interface is cluttered, odd, and unnecessarily complicated. But maybe that is the point - it covers up the lack of substance with its constant flashing of images in your face. I realise this is in development, and fully support devs, but this feels in line with fallout 76 and other new(ish) games in long-loved, cherished franchises. It's empty; it's handholding; it's not trusting your audience to be intelligent enough to remember the stick movement for a kickflip. Idk. I hope when the game 'drops' on 8 sept the tutorial/narrator's voice is less present and the entire structure less coddling. what happened to real skaters being involved with the game? their personalities are what made skate 1-3 fun, silly, and all around enjoyable. The graphics seem alright. And I imagine I will play the game more, but this should not be played with any notion of this being a new game in the franchise. skate 1-3 had soul. Hopeful for the updates in the coming weeks though.

TA GRA JEST SUPER
Although the mechanics, physics, and graphics have improved tremendously (compared to SKATE 3), the "live service" / "free to play" aspects have killed the game. The game is missing meaningful characters, story line development, cut scenes, skate culture, and honestly just everything that made the previous skate games so popular. EA has ensured that maximum profitability is achieved through: locking all gear behind cringy pay walls, pay to play certain map areas, putting a "battle pass" in a skateboarding game, and honestly just removing all of the costly heart / soul aspects from the game. Overall, this game feels like it is only designed to steal money from kids and/or the mentally challenged. Sadly, SKATE is a perfect example of corporate greed.

Create a setting that disables other player's items!!!!!!!! It is beyond silly that this has not been added by now. Hey future players enjoy not being able to even ride certain areas because endless trolls will blockade ramps with objects. That you can try and disable by hand but don't worry there are so many trolls with so many different objects you mine as well go somewhere else. Where more trolls exist to place quick dropped objects. Also do something better for the story mode. This story mode is extremely cringe and that can be forgiven but it's boring. Career modes are king. Starting a team, earning money for merch and gear should be a bare minimum. Not doing errands for cringey annoying voices in your head. LAME.
