trash game not worth your time
Great game that needs some improvements, but nowhere near as bad as some reviews make it out to be. The regular content drops make it a fun game to check back in on every so often. I'd say the worst thing about it is the EA Javelin anti-cheat that does not play nice with some programs (i.e. REwasd). I guess the other equally awful thing is the always online requirement (AKA this game will be literally unplayable whenever EA deems it unprofitable in the future). Give it a shot, though. It's free and super fun.
As much as i would love to leave a good review and recommend this game to people i just cant. Aside from all the popular points (EA going back on their word, art style, lack of skate culture etc.) It really feels like a different dev team made this game. I mean during the reveals and teasers it seemed like we were gonna get the next generation of skate. Before i really get into my issues with the game let me preface this by saying im a hypocrite. I will keep playing this game despite all its issues, but its not out of enjoyment but more so out of lack of options. Sure we have SkaterXL and session but imo non of those games have the fluid feel tricks do in skate. Anyway a big problem for me personally is lack of a single player (i know its a popular criticism but it cant go unmentioned). I know its for the whole "Live Service" schtick but i do feel the always online approach is really damaging this game. Its obvious the team said "Well there is no reason to add depth to challenges or characters seeing as the main appeal are the other players!" IMO the focus on multiplayer gave EA an excuse to make everything else shallow whether intentional or not. Another problem i have with this game are the micro-transactions. "But its a free game they have to make their money" Which i can respect but personally i would rather spend $20 for the game + grom / stadium / any other maps in the future than have to buy a premium pass (dont even get me started on the plague of battle passes). Not to mention the EGREGIOUS pricing on bundles. Yes you could say the cosmetics are optional and you are correct, however the pricing should be fair for what you get. The Dem Bones pack (NON-DELUXE) is $25 with the DELUXE edition being $50! Its an obvious attempt to squeeze extra money out of long time fans of the franchise. However the game isnt all bad. I cant sit here and keyboard-warrior all over the place claiming that the game is 100% ♥♥♥♥. Like i mentioned before the tricks feel really fluid and the animations are great! The soundtrack, while not the greatest, is still pretty good. The multiplayer is alot of fun, skating with your friends trying to land tricks in unison for a video, or going at it in a throwdown is alot of fun. The map is pretty great in my opinion, it covers pretty much every type of skating. You have bowls for transition skating, plenty of benches, ledges, stairs, and drops for street skating. You event have spots for those megapark levels of speed. The seperate districts are great, Gullcrest is my personal fave but Market Mile an Hedgemont are great districts too. The object dropper is great but could be better (locking certain objects behind a shop is lame asf) Anyway all this to say that the game is f2p and you can find plenty enjoyment in this game. if you're a newcomer to the franchise i highly suggest you play the older games before you come to skate. With emulation is super easy to play the older games but i recommend you play on original hardware. TL:DR The game isnt perfect and has alot of issues, but you can still find enjoyment in the game.

Coming from someone that played skate 1,2, and 3 vigourously, and am a decent wood pusher myself, this game is great. Coming from a SKATE perspective, its smoother than skate 3 and the map is alot better as well imo. I am obviously pretty disapointed in the graphics that they went with and the lack of brand inclusion compared to Skate 3. Skate 3 had amazing brands with a ton of clothing and board choices. But this game is still in early access so im sure all the brand stuff will come. That being said, im sure it will come in the form of micro transactions like every other free to play game today. But im actually ok with that. I dont mind spending $5-$10 here and there on some unique board designs, What im actually hoping they fix or add in the future is the ability to wear your clothes differently. In skate 3 you could wear your shirts normal or baggy, your hat 3 different ways and could wear normal fitting jeans or baggy ones, they have been pretty bland with the clothing styles so far in this game. Again, Im sure that will change with full release. Other than those critiques, Im actually pretty hopeful for the future of this game and am very excitied to see what they have in store for it in the future.
