Overall still good strategy game. What I don't like from the game is the AI level and forced win (decrease target point instead of letting the game roll as it is) The AI is not good enough, increasing difficulties to deity only gives handicap (such as faster development in science and culture) difficult at the beginning because the handicap is so unfair, but when you finally develop you civ to final stage, the AI not very challenging anymore and boring. They should develop smarter AI opponent to make the game fun instead of handicap system.
I've only started playing, but I don't see why everybody is hating this game so much! They changed what feels like more than half of the game mechanics profoundly, which means it plays like a new game, not just a Civ 6.5. I still haven't passed beyond Antiquity, but so far, I'm really liking it!
If you like strategy games, this is it. I have played since the first release Civ I which was just called Civilization. My friends and I played on an old token ring network. It was addicting!
Well I've only played this version for 4 hours so far but here are my thoughts. I think it's a new take on Civ 6. It appears they devs have taken a game that was simple to play (Civ 6) and made it exceptionally more complicated. I see rudiments of the original game but they have been dissected into a micro managed game. The graphics are great but harder on the eyes as far as strain. A lot of control in building your cities (now settlements, towns and cities) has been taken which I find disagreeable. All the things that were easily managed with little buttons are now much more complicated. Example: Focus - In Civ 6 you could choose your focus with the tick of little button. Now I have to choose only one and I can't change it because it says it stays with the settlement, town or city for the remainder of the age? or whatever it is now. I'm reading articles and watching YouTube vids. I am excited about the game and maybe as I play and learn I will feel better about it.
I've been playing Civ since the first one on the Atari st and prolly spent the most time on Civ 6, but I do love Civ 7. A couple of points... I did wait until 1.4 ToT, as Civ games always come out as total dogsh*t on launch. This isn't CIv 6, it's a different game that does things in a different way. (And I am ♥♥♥♥ at it, but I am learning) Civ 7 will need some time to mature as did Civ 5 and 6. And finally, I am not a big fan of the outrageous pricing of the DLC. Steep as F. Pack it in Firaxis.
This CIV is now as addictive as the other ones with the test of time update
