I can recommend this game, but it becomes boring when you realize that you're going to win anyway, but you still need to capture 10+ cities

I have a lot of hours in Civilisation 5. I return to it regularly. It's by far the best out of all of them, and is kept alive through the Workshop with some great community-driven and built scenarios and UI. It's at its core a grand strategy, 4X game, taking control of a civilisation from the ancient ages, all the way to the space age. It's infinitely replayable. Graphically, it's wonderful, and there are mods if you want to update them. Just play the game. It's good. Don't play Civilisation 6 or 7; don't bother. Play this one. For 16 hours straight.
