Curator page here--> DaRevieweD #179 <-- New review every Weekend

”IT WOULD’VE BEEN A RAVEN REVIEW-!!"
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2819947208 Here's The Thing: You are sent to Kent Island Prison to capture proof of paranormal goings-on and sell them to the highest bidder on behalf of R.A.V.E.N! Operate the rover “RC2” remotely and uncover that while the penitentiary has its share of inmate-guard friction, it may have also locked away a sordid past~
[+]PROS;

:) TIME FOR A SNAP~
As a bona fide ghost hunter in the making, you will deal with ghosts in two capacities. First as an exorcist with ectoplasm-damaging tech like an arresting beam attachment, blinding flash or spewing of flares. Then as an amateur photographer, who shoots to kill thereby vanquishing incapacitated ghosts. The focus and framing will determine the value of the money shot upon being uploaded. It is the latter income source that can be dipped into to modify your gear to have larger reserves, recharge function to name but a few. It has a strong RE presence namely in the choice to have keys with motifs, an open playground for you to free roam maybe open up shortcuts and purge some threats. But with the added photojournalism portions where you have to picture and capture pivotal conflicts laid out according to the diary of inmates. It is here, that the puzzles also pop out and make full use of the camera’s three filters; spectral vision for matters naked to the eye, night vision for more darker instances and the standard unfiltered lens for damning physical evidence. I just want to clarify that even though I hit a soft lock where a crucial cutscene failed to play, I could effortlessly envision 12+ hours’ worth of footage, secrets before reaching one of the endings. If you’d love a hybrid portrait of the heart-pounding “take it now!” moments of Dreadout or Grave Encounters but with the vision of Resident Evil, then you’re in luck. Until your life flashes before your very eyes, that is~
TIPS:
1) Upgrade the beam as soon as possible! 2) Save the other upgrades for when you need them. Such as to avoid backtracking.
:) A PRISON OF INTEREST!
The plumbing has gone to hell, the electricity is on its last legs and the conditions drastically shabby like a riot took place on a daily basis… Maybe it always has been that way, go figure. Controlling the RC2 gives you a sense of detachment to the whole situation and that it’s nothing but a ghost movie with some enduringly creepy angles. Regardless of over-the-shoulder or 3rd-person, RC2’s miniature build will have you enfeebled against the quaky and disappearing acts that are the enemies, much like the ghosts of Silent Hill 4: The Room. If the RC2 gets wrecked, you have a shot at salvaging your progress by playing as the guy. Presenting a further handicap in that his cellphone has to be pointed at threats in order to tell where they are. On the phone’s smaller screen, there’s the “objects may be closer than they appear” moment to consider and you feel even more disturbed without any means to counter them. Hence why it’s the perfect time to summon the sound design of Shutter 2; whose signature and all-encompassing piano accompaniment is another elbow nudge towards RE. Instead of a full-on composition, the brief notes open and set the stage letting the ghastly and bedeviling air of creaks, muffled voices, stifled breaths and booming silence to wrap you in crippling fear~
:) IT LENS ITSELF TO BE AUTHENTIC & HAUNTING…
The story quintessentially screams Outlast tangled with Orange Is The New Black’s day-to-days of inmate vs. correctional officers. How authority is abused just because one can… Slow shifting of personalities for better and worse! The pouring of soul into the riveting accounts of hopefully isolated incident. It just goes to show that just cause you didn’t see or experience it, that doesn’t mean you can dismiss the history of something. And the true irony lies in my judging the COs as profiting from the pain of others, when I was doing the exact same thing and snapping receipts too! It hit me late, but it just shook me to my core. But there’s still time and room for redemption, that is to say if it were under different circumstances- I would have gladly saw it through to the end. Alas, here we are and the show must go on to the critiques~
[-]CONS;

:( KENT YOU SEE IT TOO!?
I have the utmost admiration for the dev who made the prison layout and facilities to be as elaborate as possible. However, when that translates to a game; the colossal scale of the place is daunting and such a hindrance to get around. Which also equates to countless loading screens and backtracking. It doesn’t help that after a while, the place itself starts to look bland with repeating interiors, props and no unique centerpieces. Sure, it is a prison but that doesn’t mean creativity should be locked up or stifled too~
:( IN A REAL PIC-KLE…
An evidently troubling issue has to do with the perspective in which you are to navigate the prison. Since the camera is set to the 3rd-person by default, I’ll infer that to be the way it was intended to be played. Which makes for some uneasily cinematic and lingering, prying eyes scenes. However, that effect dissipates entirely in the heat of combat. With annoyance being all that remain due to the more often than not cramped and suffocating shots. Worse of all, the angles tend to change only when you’re out of the frame. So, it doesn’t matter whether you’re assuming offense or defense, both are pretty much unmanageable when you factor in how restless and agile the ghosts can get… Another misnomer is how the 3rd person viewpoint gets shoved in your face anyway during certain special interactions and without any warning- hello motion sickness! Unless you prefer an early grave, you’re really better off sticking to the 1st-person in the first place~ https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2819949302
:( NOT A PRETTY PICTURE.
The stories of injustice are certainly plausible and warranting of attention, but they are also overly draggy, not to mention all over the place. It is kind of like the later seasons of OITNB except more abrupt. And while there is a “central protagonist”, it is still tricky business to track all the not-so-big roles, much less stay invested in them. There is no denying that it had brilliant ideas, but not everything meshed well. It tried and came off as overcompensating for something… What could have been an organic ghost experience lost all traction and shock value once the linearity made itself known~
BUGS:
x Camera snagged in cramped spaces like the vent area! x Saw through surfaces. x Ghosts “lose you”; their AI go haywire. x Ghosts end up in walls. Passing through inflicts you damage. x Collisions sends off RC2. x Interaction prompts appear in the inventory. X Prompts overlap in library. x Textures keep twitching. x Items float, drop and do their own thing upon entering an area.
NITPICKS:
~ Twice the tutorial… ~ Objectives pop in and out. ~ No subtitles for the thick and distorted British accent. ~ Cannot load game when RC2 malfunctions or during investigative moments. ~ Objects either too light or too heavy. ~ No quick map access. ~ Text missing green bold.
"-BUT THAT’S OUT OF THE PICTURE NOW~"
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2819950358 Last Words? A splendid & flashy survival horror ode to OG Resident Evil. But the bigger picture of having no moderation or FLARE for polish are what tarnished the arrangement. If only it had a filter of its own~
6.7 / 10

I propose a toast to Cosmic Logic for the key and for being so candid with me.
Such a fun addition to the Survival Horror genre. Great atmosphere and fun but challenging puzzles. Get it if you are a fan of the genre!
Its rock hard and you WILL struggle to progress but the reward of finding your way through from clues and gut feeling alone rather than signposted objectives really makes this unique, its atmosphere is probably spookier than its cast of ghosts, the plot has thickened since shutter and now your drone is outfitted and equipped with the latest in ghost detecting and busting technology, frequent updates and support from the developer make it hard not to recommend this as a fan niche indie Horror games. If you think it might not be for you try it and refund it if you don't like it but at least try it
Played for a bit for the Indie Game Collective A SUPER neat horror game! Having a difficulty selection is a nice touch, made things less annoying for me cause I'm baby, but I honestly had a fun time!
Holy crap this review's been a loooooong time coming. I kept running into rare bugs which the very diligent developer has since fixed. I'm not a huge horror game fan; they tend toward the cliche and are over-reliant on cliche. Shutter 2 is a breath of fresh air for the genre. Shutter 2's one of the best horror games I've played. Has its shortfalls, sure, but it's very original in its execution. Instead of jump scares it features an interesting setting, story, and puzzles. 应该是某个大包里的,是我喜欢的类型--恐怖游戏,可惜,英语不好,玩不下去
Massive disappointment. Loved the first Shutter but this game is all over the place. I don't even understand what I am doing. Also, when loading into a new zone it kept the loading screen up while I could hear me move around when I pressed the keys. But the loading screen would not go away. What a shame.
Really boring honestly. The first Shutter was in a smaller and more crowded area, making it more effective, but Shutter 2 is just a stale exploration game. Area is huge, confusing and very empty.
