"Shadowforge" is a ripoff of MS-Paint that you have to download and run through Steam. Was this even remotely successful? Nope. If you want to run MS-Paint, click "Start" then use the Start menu to launch MS-Paint. This was made with the godawful "GameMaker Studio" construction kit/toolset, which is popular amongst amateur developers because it handholds you through making really crap 2D games that you can publish for $100 on Steam Direct. This lets you pat yourself on the back for pretending to be a real game developer, which explains why GameMaker Studio is responsible for so much ignored garbage on Steam. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. There's no initial download price, but the developer was charging $17 USD for this. I am not making this up, the guy wanted SEVENTEEN UNITED STATES DOLLARS for a ripoff of MS-Paint that's worse in all respects. Was this simple delusion, or something more shady? In terms of public reception, this failed. There's over 130 million unique gamers visiting Steam every month. SteamDB showed the product peaked at only 3 concurrent users (who were probably all wondering why MS-Paint got worse). This is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away.
Developer Response!
The developer has weighed in to inform everyone they didn't read the Developer Usage Rules for Steam "partners", or they deliberately ignored the part where Valve says:
Though it may be tempting, not every review needs to be responded to. A developer response will frequently draw more attention than the original statement, potentially turning a small issue into a much larger community discussion. It's also not a good idea to use this feature to refute customer opinions. Your direct attention can be seen as validation or a defensive attempt to silence your customers.
This is a little disturbing as the developer indicates they started stalking me and feverishly reading through my reviews... either just obsession with me on their part, or desperation to try find something in one of my other reviews that would somehow change the objectively terrible quality of this failed "game". Whatever their motivation, creeping on reviewers like this is not okay. You can't make this up (but computers can)... in a show of complete and utter arrogance, to insult gamers everywhere, the developer responds to valid criticism of the defects of their failed game with an AI GENERATED RESPONSE. AI detection indicates the developer response here is over 90% confirmed AI generated. You can see the arrogance and audacity of the developer, here. Zero respect for gamers. This deplorable attitude from a shady developer confirms absolutely that this game is just a cheap nasty cash grab. The developer of this toxic, failed trashheap used AI to stalk and harass this reviewer. This is completely and utterly reprehensible and a direct violation of Valve community guidelines.
