Seeking Cat

I really wanted to love this game—the 3D diorama rooms are adorable, and the idea of searching for cats in those 3D spaces sounded like a fun time. But honestly, it fell flat for me. First off, you’d think with a 3D art style, you’d be able to rotate the diorama to look around. Nope. You’re stuck with a fixed perspective, which feels like a huge missed opportunity. On top of that, every single cat is the exact same model, and they really stand out, making the game way too easy. I finished the whole thing in about 15 minutes, which left me feeling pretty underwhelmed. Thankfully, I got it as a gift, so I didn’t have to spend my own money on it. The art is lovely, but overall, it’s just too short and too simple—I really wish there was more to it.

The only good thing about this game is that it's cheap, but that doesn't mean its worth it. I thought it would be cute cosy dioramas that would be fun to explore while looking for cats but something just feels off about them. It just doesn't feel cosy, almost uncanny/AI vibes. The same cat face is used for all of the cats, and just stretched or resized over and over. I know this genre of games is quite simple in general but this game just feels like a free phone game. Ew

It's just AI slop, from faraway you can't tell but once u zoom in, all the obvious hints to AI just pop out at you. The game is extremely short as it's just a cash grab. You're better off spending your pocket change on buying cards you need.

The art is absolutely adorable, with every cat looking like a fuzzy white blob. The controls are intuitive, and the game allows for quick rechargeable hints if you ever get stuck (though it’s unlikely). The zoom out is great for spotting areas of interest, and navigation is clean and snappy. Add to that a simple achievement structure (one per level) and it’s perfect for a casual 100% without stress. There are, however, a few furballs in the yarn. Some cats are hidden behind the UI, which can be mildly frustrating. The music loops quickly, and while it’s fine for the short session, it might grate if the game were longer. Oddly, despite the 3D look, zoom and movement are locked to a 2D plane, which feels like a missed opportunity. Also, the close zoom isn’t detailed enough, and hints give away the exact location rather than offering general help. That said, for the price, it’s hard not to recommend. Seeking Cat won’t revolutionize the genre, but it’s a fun, fluffy detour worth taking, especially if you just need a cozy pick-me-up. 7 levels and plenty of cats to find. A few UI issues (zoom and the camera kind of wonks out) but otherwise, a great value for the price.
