There is potential here (duh) but here is why i won't recommend this: Basically after no time at all in the game it throws ridiculously difficulty waves of enemies at you that chew through your base in seconds, come from two directions and kill you in not time. The shield you get as defense only blocks sometimes even if visually enemy shots hit the shield which is ridiculous for a game like this. You also move to slow, so by the time the you have clunkily and slowly defended one side the enemies on the other side have chewn trough the whole of your measly starting base. That was the FIRST wave. Basically this game, instead of exploration and wise preparation, becomes a race where after you die and know what happens next you try again racing forward in progression to get a bit further. If that is what the game is supposed to be okay. However, i have doubt that the people that are pulled in by the premise of this game will appreciate what is basically a race against time. There are more problems, for example the controls are a bit daft, like you can't use the scroll wheel to scroll trough your hot bar and the game uses several different buttons to back out of menus and inventories, for some reason. Needs work in several regards.

TLDR: 2-3 hours of advancement gameplay, I spent 6 legitimately enjoying the game. Somewhere between "Stardew Valley" and "Don't Starve" made by a very small developer as a passion project and it shows. My Review: ScrapNaught is not a perfect game, but be prepared for a glowing review. I would say that there is about 2-3 hours worth of actual gameplay before you run out of destinations (in this demo), but I spent about 6 hours total, as there are craftable items, base building options, as well as a raid mechanism to defend against. There is enough storytelling narrative to keep you moving, but you won't really find any lore or deeper meaning(there could be more in the full release). The game walks a fine line between being just enough, to having such great potential it could be a huge hit. Once you get used to the controls and combat system, it really keeps giving. The whole game has a feel of being a passion project and you will find that it is made accordingly. Once it gets ironed out and given a bit more depth I could see this game getting very good. It's minimalist storytelling is a refreshing contrast to modern AAA title snoozefest stories; kind of reminiscent of old Nintendo storytelling styles when less was more.
Character moves way to slow and you need to have a setting to make running as default. I find myself playing with the space bar always pressed. I find myself spending a ton of time going from chest to chest in my base when I am trying to craft something and sometimes it's really frustrating. Why not make the entire inventory of your character and your chests available when in build mode? Would make things so much easier. Overall a pleasant experience. I am looking forwad to seeing what the devs are planning
This is just a demo, but I highly recommend giving it a go now. I've played for nearly 9 hours, most of the time just setting up a base, and I'm still enjoying it! But the best thing is you can join the discord channel and recommend changes. The developer is a really nice person and responds very quickly. I've never had the opportunity to help with the editing process of a game before. Other than that, the game has it's issues, but come on guys, it's free and the developer is working on it regularly! It's only going to get better! My only fear now is that the actual game will cost a fortune and I will still have to buy it! :D
It's so so, but too difficult for me, a newbie gamer lol.
frankly, this game looked very appealing to me at first, and i hope to see significant updates, but in it's current state, movement, attacking, and inventory management are all unnecessarily slow/clumsy. we are given 4 different tools before leaving the vessel, and then none of them seem to allow us to attack enemies. we should be able to swing a tool or weapon without having to stand in the perfect location to initiate a strike, and every tool should be able to deal damage if it can be swung. we are even given a club/mace type thing and it appears that even though it's the only tool i could imagine would be specifically for fighting, it wont swing. if we could walk faster than 1mph with run on, then i might be more inclined to explore this game past my first death to see if there is further depth or value, but having tried out every tool/weapon and finding that none of them allow me to fight back in any way against the enemies which are camping the entrance to my base, i'm quite disappointed.

It would have been an okay game IF you didn't walk SO SLOW. You lose hunger bar so fast and you go so slowly I spent the whole time freaking out about walking fast enough to collect resources. I know you can run, but it depletes the bar faster, right? It's slow. It's slow and painful. Other than that, sure, it's alright.
good game but you can easily get lost as i did quite quick but over all it is a good game and if it is still improving it will be good i have played 4 hours and it was quite good but there needs to be some improvements like the sprint speed and the what you can do with some items but over all the game is very good needs some improvements
It was good well done on graphics as well I enjoyed playing and how the game works.I would say the combat needs a bit of tweaking but other than that its really well done.
