I've always loved this absolute masterpiece of a game, the only downside being having to wait years for an update. But HOLY, the Drilling Thunder update was worth the 6 years of waiting. It added an actual storyline, so many new things to try and discover. I can safely say that I strongly recommend this game and it's a must try.
I first discovered this game through YouTube, watching STAMSITE playing it, and I remember thinking it looked like such a fun game to play and mess around in. Years later, I can safely say it has lived up to that impression.
The amount of creativity this game allows is honestly insane. Whether you want to build massive machines, ridiculous vehicles, automated farms, or just mess around with friends, there is always something new to create. The new story mode also gives you an actual reason to explore the world and experiment with all the new things.
After spending so many hours in this game, I still find myself coming back to it just to build something completely stupid and somehow make it work. There are definitely some rough edges and the wait between major updates can be painful, but when an update this big finally drops, it makes it all worth it. It's kinda understandable though, considering the devs have been making their own game engine all by themselves since their original game engine was too limiting. So while the wait can be frustrating, it's also pretty impressive knowing just how much work goes into making a game like this.
If you're even remotely interested in building, automation, survival games, or just games where you can let your creativity run wild, Scrap Mechanic is absolutely worth your money. 10/10 would spend another 6 years waiting for the next massive update.
