About
You are a mechanic for androids who has received a request from a new client.
The client is a doctor named Miomaru and his personal android, an old, near-failing model named Harima.
As per your client's request, you begin repairing Harima. You connect the cords, trade out parts, and bring life back to the functions that had broken down. It was supposed to be a simple mechanical repair.
However, the more you deepen your bonds with Harima and Miomaru, the more you start to realize something.
You're not just repairing an android anymore. You're connecting the cords that spark their memories; ones that they'd tried to forget.
Once your job is finished, you will be forced to confront shocking truths and hear their heartrending pleas.
Android Repairs
Look inside Harima's body to find the parts that need to be fixed through a variety of mini-games. These repairs will be the key to learning about your clients' past.
Conversation
Talk with your clients, Miomaru and Harima, to gain their trust and get to the true crux of their story. Your choices will change how they respond.
Fixing the android parts was the easy part
Thank you Unio Anou for the curator copy. This is nonetheless an impartial review. You play as a repairman called in for what should be a routine job: fixing a 20-year-old android. Simple enough, right? Wrong. Harima is way more aware and independent than she should be, and she’s very determined to make one thing clear: she is against being repaired. She reads, she argues and discuss deep topics with quite strong opinions. What starts as replacing parts quickly spirals into something much heavier. While helping Miomaru, Harima's owner, repair her from head to toe, the story digs into consciousness, consent, boundaries, cruelty toward robots, and what actually makes someone human. It’s not subtle, but it works. I got obsessed with the writing and the world-building also helped tons (especially the six radio stations you can choose in the car each morning, each giving a different slice of how androids fit into society). It’s a small touch, but it adds a lot. The puzzles are there too, short and simple enough not to hijack the story, which is exactly the right call since this is a visual novel first. You’ve got lots of settings, manual saves with multiple slots, clear achievements, and four endings that actually change based on your choices, so replaying isn’t just for checkbox hunters. And the story? Absolute emotional sabotage. I loved it. It’s been a while since a visual novel hit me hard enough to leave me sitting there in silence afterward, but this one managed. It goes places, dark places sometimes, and handles themes like suicidal thoughts with enough care to make them land. My main complaint is the localization occasionally switching Harima’s pronouns between they/them and she/her in ways that didn’t feel intentional, which made a few conversations awkward to follow. Also, selfishly, I wanted more. Not because it feels incomplete, but because I was so into it that reaching the end felt like someone unplugged me too soon. This is one of those rare short stories that makes you want to immediately go back for every ending. If you like thoughtful stories, character-driven writing, or games that leave your brain wandering around afterward, this one is worth every cent, full price or not. I just ranted and raved about this for 15 minutes straight on Discord, so I owe it to the game to leave a proper review. I'll mostly be copy/pasting what I wrote there, changing a bit of wording and redacting profanity that I used in the original post for emphasis because I absolutely love this game. [I love the writing here. The pronoun usage is a bit... confusing, but I think that the localization was trying to differentiate between modes that english just doesn't do. It comes off initially as "Someone's either they/themming a she/her or she/her-ing a they/them", but I think it's a matter of respect and formality rather than identity. Which is interesting in a game that chooses to be about what this one is, but there's so much delicate material here to work with. The translator tried to preserve something in japanese that just doesn't work quite as well in english. Our language sucks. This game and the localization efforts do not. The art style is beautiful, the puzzles are great and engaging. And wow, the art is amazing. Harima is a character that I deeply, deeply appreciate. The game also tackles concepts like consent, trust, boundaries, respect, and humanity with such a wonderful and delicate touch. What you are doing is intimate. There is no way around it. You are getting your hands inside of an android's electronic guts while they're powered off. This puts you in a position of so much power, and them in a position of such vulnerability that there's no way that it isn't some degree of intimate. Not sexual, notably. Intimate. Joints, tendons, wires, and it's treated with the weight that it needs to be. I love this game. It's so beautiful. If this game sounds like your kind of thing, go for it. It's $8.79 on sale right now. $10.99 if you get it at full price. I have played two hours of this game, there's more to it to explore, and I'd say that it's worth $11, even at just the two hour mark.] Final notes, unless I revise this review after getting more endings: The PC specs section just says "windows 11". Works fine on Win10. Says that it's best played with a controller. I used mouse and keyboard and felt that the gameplay was smooth and have had no issues. There's also a rather heavy trigger warning that they could've put in the beginning that might help some people about an event later on in the game towards the ending, particularly an (end-game spoiler, about 85% in)
attempted suicide
but doing so would also spoil a bit and ruin how visceral that event is, so I understand the desire not to include it. But it could do with a warning about that somewhere beyond just the warning that the game -does- provide about imagery! Overall, I love this game a lot. It handles sensitive topics well and with respect, I highly recommend it.
An interesting story about androids. Mostly a visual novel with a couple of very simple puzzles and a few choices. Looks and sounds nice, although it could use more pictures and tracks. Some parts of the story don't make much sense, but it's fun to read, so it doesn't really matter. It's more of a "feel" than "think" story anyway. It's not as long as my playtime suggests, by the way. You should be able to 100% it in 4-5 hours.
Objectively:
8.4/10
The Government doesn't want you to know it but
the robots are gay
I really, really enjoyed this story. It's the kind of story that can really only be told with androids. The tale is quite straightforward but I found myself thinking about companionship, emotion, what it means to be an android, what it means to be a human, how much someone's self and personality is tied to their body, and things like that. I will be thinking about this for some time. I do love sci-fi where it's so grounded in sci-fi that it would be hard to do any other way, and the core is philosophical. The puzzles in this game are all fairly simple, but are varied and a welcome break from reading. I only played through one route so far - ending 3-2 - taking me 4.5 hours, but that's because my brain is not letting me focus like it used to - I think in normal circumstances, I would have read it faster. So the reading length is quite short. But, as I think the story will stick to me for a while, that time carries a lot of value.
A really great game with a great story, the puzzles are good and intuitive but I would prefer that save states were automatic at key decisions to make completing other endings quicker. Great game, cheap if you buy on discount!
