Information / Review English
Santa Slides to Town falls into the genre of precision platformer with racing game elements, which was developed by Henri Tokola.
Gameplay / Story
Have you always wanted to play Santa and give out presents? Then you should definitely read on because this game could be something for you. Your task is to play Santa on his sleigh and give out lots of presents. You have to cross wintry landscapes while avoiding obstacles and collecting stars. You can use special techniques and double/triple jump to get to the stars. You should always keep a timer running in the background in your field of vision. You have to collect the stars to unlock new levels or upgrades for Santa or your sleigh.
Pro
+ Child friendly + sporty Santa in action + colorful sections + suitable music in the background + Stars to collect + suitable price/performance ratio + Achievements
Contra
- some difficult passages
Conclusion
Santa Slides to Town offers colorful sections for young and old. The game is very child-friendly.
First of all, thank you to the developer for providing us with this key for the group.
Gameplay / Geschichte
Pro
+ Kinderfreundlich + sportlicher Santa in Aktion + farbenfrohe Abschnitte + passende Musik im Hintergrund + Sterne zum sammeln + passendes Preis/Leistungsverhältnis + Errungenschaften
Kontra
- teils schwere Passagen
Fazit
Santa Slides to Town bietet dir farbenfrohe Abschnitte für Jung und Alt. Das Spiel ist sehr Kinderfreundlich. Santa is in a rush and needs to deliver his presents quickly before the children wake up and catch him stuffing his face with mince pies. Luckily, all his routes are downhill but each area has its own obstacles like high trees or buildings that he needs to jump over, or weather conditions like snow and wind that he needs to battle against. It’s quite a basic game but it has a lot of charm and a decent amount of content and it’s quite fun to play. I wouldn’t say you have the greatest control over the sleigh and when you jump you tend to jump into the unknown, but that's all part of the fun as you watch the chaotic manner in which Santa and his sleigh tumbles and somersaults through the levels. Your fastest times are recorded on every level, along with your largest jump, number of stars collected, and number of flips, but there are no leader boards. I think that would add an extra layer to the gameplay, but there’s plenty of things to try and better if you enjoy improving your scores. There are a generous number of levels. Forty-five altogether, split into five races in each of the eight biomes. If you finish all five levels you are rewarded with a brief festive cutscene. You can play any of the tracks in any of the biomes, if you have enough stars, so if you get bored with one biome you can skip to another one. Level progression is not linear and doesn’t depend on unlocking previous ones, but there is a running story at the end of each biome so that might be out of order. Some of the tracks in each biome do appear quite similar. They tend to stay with a theme but get more difficult as you progress. Some of the levels may require you to upgrade your sleigh, for example you might need extra power in the blizzard sections, or lights in the night time levels. Other upgrades include double or triple jumps to reach those out of place stars or jump over large objects; a helping hand from the elves, who try to push you out of danger; a magnet to attract stars, although it is a very weak magnet and stars come at you very slowly. After completing each section, you will get rewarded with an achievement and a skin to customize your sleigh and character too, so there’s a decent number of ways to improve your times and the aesthetics of the game. Upgrades are quite expensive so it will take you a while to get hold of some of them, especially as some levels are very stingy with the stars, but there are certain levels which earn a bumper harvest so it’s just knowing which ones they are and keep repeating them until you have enough. I have done a video review if you want to check it out which is in the link at the bottom of the review.
🍳Conclusion🍳

Santa Slides to Town is an enjoyable platformer and score chaser that is obviously designed for the festive period. It doesn’t take itself too seriously and can be completed in a few hours. I really enjoyed the festive music that plays throughout the game and it will help put you in the mood for Xmas. Its longevity will probably depend on how much you like chasing scores, but it’s still fun to dip in and out of as the levels don’t take very long to play. There is an online mode where you can start a lobby and play against a friend or an online player, and a two-player split screen mode too. Overall, I would recommend Santa Slides to Town for a bit of silly fun around the Xmas period and should suite adults and children alike.

Thank you for reading my review.
