Lovely puzzle horror game to enjoy! There is a great use of liminal spaces to enhance the spooky atmosphere, and the sound design was great. The film developing mechanic was very interesting. :) I look forward to seeing what the devs next come up with, as this was a very well-made first title!
Nice little Horror-Game. I liked the game mechanic with the photos.
Fun horror game. The atmosphere and world building are really well done. The sound design and interactables are great. I liked the flashlight mechanic for enemies. Puzzles are on the more straightforward side of things and could definitely have been more intricate. The number puzzles specifically could be misleading. My favorite puzzle was the railing combination pattern puzzle. Something I felt could be an interesting development would be an even darker environment and using a broken analogue camera instead of a flashlight. With how the enemies worked the flashlight is used in bursts anyways to not attract the enemies. The broken camera would also tie in with the film rolls found throughout the game. The matches and lighting system felt out of place and did not seem to work as intended. Enemies did not react to lighting lamps and lighting the lamps isn't necessary to progress. My thoughts on the number puzzles
The first number puzzle could be a little different and require the player to think a bit. The change could be that the lock code is related to the red circled numbers and the rooms' numbers instead of the current number order which is just the order the player entered each room. The second number puzzle is the most misleading because it relies on the assumption that the player will know what order the numbers were supposed to have been found.
Minor bugs
Minor bug for the controller support was that when viewing photos pressing B on an Xbox one controller removes the one photo irreversibly, pressing B again has the same effect until there are no more photos. Another bug is the door used at the end of the railing puzzles could be opened prematurely through the wall.
Good game to pick up if you're in the mood for something short and creepy
Very impressed that it is a debut game. I love the concept and found it a good balance between puzzles and spooks. Looking forward to what this team does in the future!
Safelight shows a lot of restraint, and for that I am grateful. Atmosphere, and a handful of fun yet fairly straight forward puzzles are at the forefront. Where other indie horror titles attempt to ham up the scares with loud, and often repetitive, screams and instrumental stings, Safelight takes the high road and instead allows a quieter angst to take the lead. Its short, its sweet, and its a fine first game for a dev team.
引导极其差,可能我是傻子吧,一层楼逛了N多圈也没找到下一步的线索
Safelight, is a first-person puzzle horror game that immerses players in the eerie silence of a Victorian-themed cruise ship. Pros: ✔️ Immersive Atmosphere: The game masterfully creates a haunting environment with good graphics and a sinister sound design, keeping me on edge throughout my exploration. ✔️ Engaging Puzzles: Recovering hidden rolls of film to restore missing areas of the ship added a unique and challenging layer to the gameplay, making each discovery rewarding. ✔️ Minimalist Interface: The simplified HUD and minimal user interfaces enhanced immersion, allowing me to fully engage with the game's world without distractions. Cons: ❌ Repetitive Mechanics: At times, the process of finding and developing film became monotonous, slightly diminishing the overall excitement. ❌ Limited Enemy Variety: The hostile entities, while initially terrifying, lacked diversity, which could have added more depth to the horror experience. ❌ Abrupt Ending: The conclusion felt sudden, leaving several narrative threads unresolved and me yearning for more closure. Despite these drawbacks, "Safelight" offers a compelling horror experience that kept me engaged from start to finish. The blend of atmospheric tension and puzzle-solving provided a memorable adventure. I am also inherently biases because it's from a local studio. Score: 7 out of 10 camera flashes—A snapshot of horror that develops a chilling atmosphere but could use a bit more exposure.📸
