Reviews
Ok real review, while i didn't check it out for too long, the combat and movement is real fun and fast paced, some good thought went into it. Ok fake review, everything other than the game-play feels like i just walked into a cult clubhouse, but i can't help but admire their exquisite stone-masonry and rich, detailed tapestry. i can't even describe this mix of feelings, like pausing a car crash mid collision or opening up a piece of machinery, and not knowing how to describe its internal components. A feeling that whatever is going to happen next is entirely unpredictable, and even trying to do so is a futile effort.
Go in blind, its a cool game. Evokes the childhood feeling of just learning to play video games. Surprises that feel unintended turn into skills you then use to progress. Its wild that billion dollar companies fail to capture this. I only wish there was
an actual end. Feels abandoned, when really all its missing is some way to reach the credits. But oh well, the dev clearly understands what makes games fun, so I hope to see what they do next.
Still not quite sure what I just played, but the coin got bigger when I got more money.
this game is very odd but I find the gameplay to be immaculate once you master it, on any branch.
I'm haunted by the inevitable video that explores Saccharine Pale, the sadly overlooked masterpiece (20 things you missed), rather than my experience of Saccharine Pale, the schizoid philosophical ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ (the maned wolf is judging me I can feel it)
I picked up a box and then got softlocked
something is wrong i dont feel so go
I love odd games
game was abandoned developer was generous enough not to take down the store page, along with the "most common version" build- essentially a box collecting sim more than an actual game. its not coherent. the map is rough, and the game places too much confidence in the player exploiting the on-hit knockback mechanic to get around and explore i spent couple hours collecting crates and im fairly sure i found all of them except the one placed inside a cage in Forch dhor Opaslurescens. most of what i got from the crates were uh some cryptic items, fragments of vague messages, and references to consumables supposedly sold at an "apothecary" a location that doesnt exist in the game(its abandonware duh) the whole thing feels like a monologue. less a game, more a... loose sandbox? where dev threw in enigmatic ideas and half-formed concepts and then walked away
I don't know what just happened, but I have booked time with my therapist to talk about it. This was covered as part of this week's episode of Free2Play Weekly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-S6GZtjGTbg&t=705
