S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chornobyl - Enhanced Edition

I love Stalker, and wanted to do a run through of SOP to keep myself from splurging on Stalker 2. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this version, as it's super buggy. I'm experiencing issues where: -in menus my cursor will repeatedly reset to the centre of the screen making it impossible to navigate dialogues and trades -buttons get stuck frequently, mostly movement, but occassionally even mouse buttons. Lowering the polling rate of hardware reduced the incidence but did not remove them, it still does it. -crashes pretty frequently -sometimes the windows cursor actually appears onscreen overlaid, with the windows sensitivity not the scaled ingame one, so it will float all around your reticule while you play These bugs are continuously present and will not give you any break. I haven't been able to find fixes, I've investigated polling rates, usb sleep etc, but honestly, at the point where I'm modifying my peripherals and messing with Device Manager to get a game to just accept inputs, it's just not a polished product. I am used to jank, I am a Stalker fan, I can deal with the jank of the original, but this version largely preserves the jank and the mods which users fixed it with are better supported in the original version. So it's not really fixable jank, it's just jank that made it into a remaster. It does look prettier than the original, but if I'd known how the bugs were going to get worse and worse and interfere with my enjoyment, I probably would have gone with the original and done some modding. The addition of achievements is nice, but having to hit escape to clear my strafe keys to stop moving isn't great.

This game is fantastic. Great atmosphere. Great weapon mechanics. Well written lore. Excellent immersion combining the atmosphere and the audio.

« S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chornobyl - Enhanced Edition » réussit parfaitement à moderniser un classique sans perdre l’âme unique de la Zone. L’ambiance est toujours aussi oppressante et immersive, mais avec des graphismes améliorés qui rendent l’exploration encore plus incroyable. Entre les effets de lumière, les nouvelles textures et le sound design toujours aussi stressant, chaque expédition devient mémorable. Le gameplay reste exigeant et brutal, exactement comme on l’aime dans STALKER. On ressent constamment la tension : manque de ressources, anomalies mortelles, mutants terrifiants… tout pousse à rester concentré. Cette Enhanced Edition apporte aussi de nombreux correctifs et améliorations de confort qui rendent l’expérience plus fluide sans dénaturer le jeu original. Même après toutes ces années, peu de FPS arrivent à créer une atmosphère aussi forte. Si vous aimez les jeux immersifs, les mondes post-apocalyptiques et les expériences qui ne prennent pas le joueur par la main, foncez. Un chef-d’œuvre intemporel. 🔥☢️

The game is unplayable in it's current state. The audio doesn't work & the game crashes as soon as you try to open the locker in the first room. I don't recommend. I'd get a refund, but I think I've had this game too long to qualify for one.
