Rusty's Retirement

The game’s art style and core gameplay are charming, but a serious save issue completely ruined the experience for me. After playing continuously for several hours, I built Echo’s Workshop and unlocked multiple Steam achievements, including “Echo’s Uber Upgrades,” earning 50,000 spare parts, producing 5,000 biofuel, and unlocking 10 crops. However, when I reopened the game, my farm had rolled back by several hours. I checked the local save files, .bac backups, and Steam Cloud records on my Mac. It appears that the game failed to save my later progress correctly. The Steam achievements prove that I completed these milestones, but my buildings, resources, farm layout, and hours of progress are gone, and the available backups only contain the earlier state. For a game built around long-term idle progression and farm management, reliable saving is essential. I no longer feel comfortable investing more time into the game, so I am requesting a refund. I hope the developers fix the save and backup system as soon as possible.

This is a cool take on the genre with fun items and mechanics that keep it fresh while not straying too far.

I want to give this a "Mixed" rating but the coin fell to the positive side. The game functions fine, it's fun to see it on the bottom of your screen while you are working (for example) There are lots of things to buy and upgrade in the beginning and the art style is really fun too. And while I enjoyed my 34 hours with Rusty, I also feel I have seen everything already. With the 6 systems in the game it feels big enough, but the problem is with a bit of money you can buy them all in a relatively short amount of time. The other problem is that every new system is 1 level deep. After you bought it, there is nothing left to surprise you. You can unlock bee keeping, but that means you can plop down a beehive and some flowers and berries and that's it. i guess you see some floating dots presenting to be bees. and once in a while you get a bit of money. but that is the full extend of bee keeping. And yes you can unlock more vegetables and more berries, but that is just a sprite change. And while fun, that gets a bit stale fast. At least for me. Why not having different bees, in depth pollination, why not cross breeding plants, dna splicing. research trees for your automation and robots (at the moment you click upgrade and again that's it.) Why not breeding animals, or a bit more simulation of them with eating, drinking, housing. that sort of stuff. This would make everything more lively and still be an idle game, just more to explore and interact and be surprised about. The mechanics are all hollow at the moment. I do want to give credits to "Reapers Outpost", what's in a name. But the random computer chips you can buy to upgrade your plants where a nice addition, where you always hope for a legendary chip. Not that it makes much sense but at least it presents something new. I hope the developer will continue working on this, as I see mountains of potential and a really solid base. So it's still a positive review, i'm just a little underwhelmed and dissapointed because I want much more of it.

Einfach der perfekte Zeitvertreib, um es auch mal über eine Sendung drüberzulegen. Geile Idee mit Suchtfaktor. Gerne mehr Updates - nicht weil mir der Content nicht reicht, vielmehr weil ich neugierig bin, was noch aus diesem kreativen Kopf des Entwicklers entspringen kann und dieses Meisterwerk voranbringt. <3
