I put together a free Windows tool to make setting up and managing a RuneScape: Dragonwilds dedicated server easier. It gives you a simple GUI for install, config, updates, firewall setup, start/stop, and monitoring. GitHub: Search DragonWilds-Dedicated-Server-Setup It includes source code, build instructions, and a downloadable Windows executable. If you try it, I’d love feedback.
getting kicked to menu screen upon joining self hosted server.

Audience
Hopefully your using SteamCMD and hopefully you know how to make a Batch File.. ("Save AS" .bat) and a simple script like "START S:\SteamCMD\common\RuneScapeDragonwildsDedicatedServer\RSDragonwildsServer.exe -Log -NewConsole" and it ran just fine and takes less than an hour to set up...
There is no functional flag or argument to define a custom port during server initialization. Even worse: even after correctly configuring the network and opening the default ports in the firewall, the player attempts to connect and is summarily thrown back to the main menu. The game displays absolutely no log or error message, leaving administrators completely in the dark about the reason for the connection refusal. The game information indicates that the "Direct Connection" option (to manually enter IP and Port) should appear when selecting the server. However, this interface simply does not appear at any point. Without this option, and with Steam invites also failing, players are dependent on a public list that doesn't always work. Even with the OWNER_ID perfectly configured in the variables, the console frequently reports errors such as "failed to read the Owner ID," blocking administrator recognition and requiring multiple restarts. Players attempting to host and play on the same local network are unable to connect. Since the game apparently forces the route through the external IP and doesn't handle loopbacks (nor does it offer a direct connection via the local IP), the host is blocked by its own network and cannot access the server that is hosting it.
Biggest lump of ass
Followed a guide by some ai sh*tter. Worked so yaaay. Its pretty fun playing with mates. please add more options for the server(player count, mob count, resource spawn rate ), ease of use.
There needs to be better consolidation & documentation of the different server options available. I wasn't able to determine that it was possible to set a port manually by searching the web. I was only able to finally figure it out by scouring reddit afterwards. I have a computer that has run minecraft, palworld, and valheim servers and using my exact same port forwarding setup for this server doesn't work. Now I have to spend hours trying to see what on earth is uniquely wrong with this game that is preventing me from being able to host it. Edit: For anyone running into issues similar to mine, the server eventually started working even though my ports never ended up appearing open. I'm not exactly sure what the issue is, but I'm assuming the software is doing something under the hood here. That all being said, I think this is a good game, but I hope that they can make the feedback to the user better when it comes to setting up and debugging a self-hosted server.
