I had to double-check whether this game is really free to play on Steam, because it’s better than many VR titles I’ve actually paid for. It’s not a long game—I finished it in four hours—but it was an engaging and fun experience. I played this streaming on SteamVR to my Quest 2 headset and the graphics are beautiful, the story is cool, the spell-casting mechanic is well-designed, and the gameplay is solid overall. Probably one of the best free VR games out there right now.
The game is kind of interesting with its puzzles and story, but then falls flat on its face at the end when it decides it wants to be a really poorly designed multi-wave combat game. Dealbreaker. Would refund if I'd paid money for this. It's a shame, really. I wanted to see how the story ends, but I can't seem to beat one of the waves where I spam the approaching enemies with fire darts and they just kind of laugh and stab me.

The game seemed interesting at first but not until I reached the forest where you have to collect masks avoiding the shadow that follows you when you're not looking at it. At this point the game became too annoying and frustrating for me. You walk too slow and the shadow blocks you on narrow paths surrounded by invisible walls that shouldn't be there in VR where you can't step right or left therefore can't avoid the shadow and doomed to start all over again. Didn't progress after that point, too annoying to try one more time.
Головоломка с элементами стрельбы.
A game about isolation.
Controls do not work with Reverb G2. The track pad does not transfer to the Joystick on controlers.
story ***** caracters ***** steering **** graphic **** very good !!!
I think this must have been good for it's time when it was published 5 years ago. It just doesn't hold up anymore. I had a couple of nice moments, mainly the forest area with the shadow creature. The spell casting mechanic is okay. Voice acting is decent. Some parts of the puzzles were okay as well. That's about it when it comes to the good parts. I didn't find the story interesting at all, but I could see some others liking it. The gameplay was way too junky for my liking. Many puzzles and game design choices were frustrating or just outright bad. The wave shooter part was horrible. I've played several free wave shooters that were better. My main problem is that I just didn't have fun while playing. Even the shadow creature part was frustrating due to the slow narration. I'd give this a neutral review if there was a possibility for such.
Before I played Runes: The Forgotten Path, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good
