The story is thin, very shallow. At least that was my first impression. Since I didn't like the hidden object scenes very much either, I got my money back for this one. So, a love story. One might argue that there isn't very much to be expected story-wise. I have to say, it could at least be entertaining, something light-hearted between all the gloomy, magic tales of cursed kingdoms and haunted houses in the HOB-universe. If only the story were written with a little bit of passion and talent. Alas, it's not. It feels awkward. Cringeworthy. Maybe that gets better after the first two hours. As I had it refunded I don't really know, but I didn't feel compelled to find out. The hidden object scenes look pretty at first glance, but they just weren't fun to play. You have to scroll around in some scenes in order to be able and see all objects. Something I don't really like and the objects often look like stickers applied to a surface, not like they're really part of that scene. Sound was aweful, i wanted to turn it off, but didn't because I thought I might be missing out on dialogue or something. To be honest: I wouldn't even play it if it were a freebie
A unique seek and find experience. Was very straightforward plot-wise (no time travel or bringing dead women back to life) and the music was soothing. A very casual game with many hints available should you need them. The ending was a little abrupt and the play time was very short (you could definitely finish it in half an hour or less if you wanted to). Overall, a pleasant experience and a nice change of pace from the usual over-the-top, mysticism-filled HOP games.
This is literally the worst game in the HOPA genre that I have ever played. I've played at least a dozen of these types of games. I was really looking forward to playing this game. Chocolate + Paris = sign me the ♥♥♥♥ up for some Jenna Marbles style me-time. Well, I want my me-time back. A full play through is really only about an hour long, maybe an extra half hour to figure out achievements. I left this on on accident while cooking dinner, hence why it says it took me 2.3 hours to beat the game -- but that's still a very short game. This game contains a mix of a variety of types of hidden object puzzle games, namely... - find matching pairs (find matching 'cakes') - find a certain number of a given type of item (find a number of cats) - find items based on silhouette - find items based on a word clue - spot the difference (hidden object-y) - rotate a mosaic puzzle to form an image (not a hidden object puzzle, but typical of the genre) I have no issue with any of those types of hidden object puzzles. I love variety in my HOPA games. However, the issue is with the execution of those types of puzzles in this specific game. - Matching Pairs: starting with the very first level, in which I was supposed to match up 10 cakes...not only were various items I neded to match not cakes but general pastries, one of the pairs doesn't really match. Nine pairs were identical. One pair was of two different white cupcakes, one with a violet topping, the other with an orange topping...which doesn't make them a matching pair, in the context of that given puzzle.. It's weird that one random pair would not be a perfect match, when the other nine pairs were all the same. - Find a certain number of a given type of item: There's a ghostly cat in the cats puzzle that doesn't count towards the total number of cats you're supposed to find. When developers put in unfair fake-outs like this, it's very irritating. There is also a puzzle in which you are supposed to find a certain number of 'antiques'. Various old looking things in the puzzle do not count as antiques. For example, there are at least three dolls/mannequin type of things in the image...but only one counted as antique. - The silhouettes used for silhouette based puzzles are generic clipart silhouettes rather than exact silhouettes of the items you are supposed to be finding. All this sucks. The bigger issue is the controls. One of the "features" of this game is that you can scroll and zoom around a scene. Well...I'm playing this on a Macbook with a trackpad, and using the trackpad causes me to both scroll/pan and zoom at the same. Panning is very slow and often times you have to pan to places that are hard to pan to in order to get items for a given puzzle. The fact panning is busted means that for some players, it's feasible they won't be able to figure out how to make the weird panning system work, and they won't be able to have a fun time. The low resolution graphics make various hidden object scenes very unfair, as do various ♥♥♥♥♥♥ "gotchas!" There's a scene where you need to find a black mask. There's a black sleep mask and a black costume mask. Only the black costume mask counts. There's a scene where you need to find a "heart" -- which is really just a leaf shaped like a heart. It's another gotcha. The worst gotcha -- you have to find a bunch of bats. One of the bats is LEGO BATMAN. You can't make this up. What makes this game unplayable: - poor, low resolution graphics - the issue with the panning system - the gastronome achievement is unclear, I think it means you have to get 3 chocolate hearts out of 3 (scoring system) on 10 different stages? There's a meter for this, on a scale of 0 to 10...But it only went from 0 to 5 to 10 (10 getting the achievement), with 5 triggering a bunch of times during play. What makes this game unpleasant: - poor/cheesy story - cheesy animations -- no walking animations for the main character, for example, she merely slides across the ground
Search your grandmother's home for the family chocolate recipe and instead find her questionable number of hookahs and stolen art. Kind of a strange game and it's so frustrating at points (hidden objects are sometimes literally hidden behind the menu button and can only be found with zoom) that it kinda made me hate the french. P.S. Sorry to the french. I don't hate you.
I'm unable to recommend even though I really wished I could. The objects don't usually represent what they really are, text it proceeding too fast, the story is just characters saying some things. There is a rating system of how you did at the end of each puzzle which is really dissapointing and it's really hard to get 3 hearts. Has great potential but it's not how I expected the game to be watching the videos as the game was advertised above. If you want to try it out, wait for the sale. 3 Euros is a lot if we take the same kind of games into accont. Anything under 1 Euro is a good deal for this game.
Cured psychosis with the help of this game. 10 relaxing out of 10.
