About
In Rock and Scroll you follow Sisyphus who is now cursed to be the very boulder he pushed up the mountain, as he tries to outwit the gods one last time in this literal side scroller platform game.
Unlike other platforms, you scroll to move and click to jump. Sounds easy, right? Well, if you're using a trackpad, good luck - you're basically doomed.
Experience a level of frustration you never knew existed as you attempt to scroll with perfect timing and speed as you jump through history.
Master the art of scrolling as you fumble your way through history, desperately trying to time each jump just right. Difficulty modes range from easy to hard meaning anyone can try to beat the game!
For those who've truly mastered the movement, there's a built-in speed run timer, perfect for proving to your parents that all those hours weren’t a complete waste. Who knows? Maybe they will even put it on the fridge.
With precise platforming mechanics, momentum-based movement, and cool collectibles, you'll need to uncover secrets hidden deep within each level to help our rock get through time.
Along the way, you'll roll into some famous figures from history each with their own absurdly specific problems. Complete their challenges to uncover secrets, alter history (probably for the worse), and prove that even as a rock, you're more helpful than most people.
Each level introduces a new mechanic designed either to ruin your day. One moment you're dealing with inverted scroll controls, the next you're stuck in a time period where gravity changes direction at random, each era brings its own flavour of torment. Just when you think you’ve mastered the controls, the game finds a new way to mess with you.

Currently in this state, I cannot recommend this game. Absolutely not. Having played the playtest earlier this year, I was so hyped for this game. I even stayed up making a video promo for the game to help others get hyped for it just like this. But I feel so scorned now with the state of this game. When the game released, level 1 and 2 were business as usual. Exactly what I knew and expected and I was excited for more. Then the rest of the levels came. The Egypt level was good. I enjoyed the new heat mechanic. Only ran into one bug, I believe. After that it just kept getting worse. I kept encountering more and more bugs. Deaths that just would happen, getting stuck in a few places as well as quests not working properly. Then the pirate level came. I had to do the pirate level at least 3 times because each time was broken. I collect both keys and the guy by the cage wouldn't take them, I collect the collectibles, and it shows the collectible counter for level 3. I even encountered what I believe to be a previous build where the entire left half wasn't even available and both keys were to the right. 3 separate times it just didn't work. I kept pushing on, and trying to enjoy. The next few levels were playable but still had some bugs that just made it not that fun. The plane section just sucked so much too. Could hardly control the plane to get through it. Then level 8 came and that also was really buggy. The car section alone was just a mess. It needed to be tested a few more times because you could just drive off the map in the south and get stuck. Not to mention the car would just spin uncontrollably for whatever reason. After I finally reached the portal, the game didn't even take me to the next level. I was just stuck on a black screen. I think right now there's a reason why, after level 6, I was the only one on the leaderboard. It has good ideas and the mechanics of the mouse wheel are good but it needs more polish. A lot more. I understand this is a solo dev, and games are hard to make. But level 1 and 2 were polished to perfection for the playtest. Did the rest of the game just not get the same treatment?
I'm angry but I like it.
I played a lot of the playtest, the full game is just as good! Scrolling to move is such a weird mechanic but it's so satisfying once you get the hang of it!
I loved this game back since the Demo was out, and the full game not only delivered, but excelled expectation. Simple Premise, you move with your mouse scroll wheel, and jump with a click or using space bar, nothing complicated, right? For such a simple game, the rest is down to timing and mastering your speed. I have been having tons of fun after beating each level just trying to optimize and make it faster, besides, there are tons of "side missions" and collectibles to find and have extra fun on the side (If you don't rage your head off first). LOVING IT.
So this game could be fun for a specific type of player, but for now, it's kinda rough on the edges, and that is fine, so if you're willing to deal with the oddities of the game, it's a unique experience in its genre. But maybe not for me, and that is okay; hopefully, you can enjoy it far more than I do
This game got my blood boiling. I'm absolutely terrible at it yet it keep trying over & over & over again. It's super addicting and perfect for a quick game session when you have 30-60 minutes spare. The save points help out alot with this (granted I needed to have the save points to save my sanity). Definitely would reccomend this game.
A very relaxing game that offers a lot of different challenges and speed running possibilities, would highly recommend!
So this is a bit of a weird game. I played this in next fest originally and really enjoyed it. The scroll controls are pretty weird but a neat idea and are surprisingly intuitive distance wise. Sure the game is a bit janky but that comes with the territory. Overall this is a pretty fun little game that isnt too punishing depending on difficulty and is a neat experience.
Fun game with lots of ways to go fast, skips and various flavours of cheese!
While the control scheme isn't the most intuitive, I always felt like I was in control and my falls were generally my own fault. That's much more than you can say about a lot of games in this genre.
