Rex: Another Island

A phenomenally polished small game. Absolute joy from start to finish.

Very short, but it's a fun little platformer. Also, the music is pretty good.

I enjoyed the secret area.

It's a nice, short game. Platforming is tight, the mechanics used are basic but well polished, none of the secrets felt like they were unreasonably hidden, the music is pretty great, and it's a pretty low price. Would highly recommend.

If you are a fan of old retro platformers, like to collect stuff and enjoy some trial and error to get that 100% game completed, this might be the game for you. It has a nice art style, some good and challenging platforming sections(with a lot of checkpoints so you wont get hard stuck) the addition of X making you zoom out so you can plan upcoming sections better etc makes the game a really enjoyable short experience. It took me 1 and a half hour to 100% it and i would estimate for others it would be between the 1-2 hour range depending on skill level.

Not every game needs interesting mechanics or be very long to stuck in your mind: sometimes, all the game needs is the right atmosphere and a few hours worth of content. Rex: Another Island is that kind of game: it's a very simple platformer that you can finish 100% in under 2 hours, with a moderate level of challenge that leaves the player the freedom to save often; the checkpoints are plentiful, which is actually the only thing I didn't like too much, as they make the game a bit too easy. However, despite its simplicity, its atmosphere is fantastic: while it might look uneventful, the graphics and the music hide some interesting details that give a bit of lore to the game. In particular, my favorite part is an abandoned city: when basically every game has a constant music track in the background, you can forget how deafening silence can be; in a game that most of the time has a peaceful atmosphere, moments like this become more memorable. If you like platformers without a level structure, you will like this game: it doesn't offer much, but what it does is enough to make it worthwhile.

A short zero-nonsense [i]ZX Spectrum[/i] -style platformer with endearing music, appropriate difficulty (a few more challenging sequences would not hurt, however), and pleasant visuals. The only point worth criticising is its price - 3 quid is a bit too much for such a short game.

This game is as good as any great NES platformer game. I had a blast finding all the endings and it's a perfect game for my young daughters. It felt like I was able to relive playing Adventure Island II for the first again :D It's not the best game in the world, but it's a 10/10 experience!!

A charming little open world challenge platformer with some nice graphics and nice vibing music.
