Tl;dr: Resonite offers an experience that's similar to Little Big Planet's create mode in the VR space.
There's obviously a little more to it than just that, and Resonite is definitely more complex than LBP. But in my personal experience, this is how I'd best describe it.
The "closed off" nature of other platforms
If you're familiar with other VR platforms, you're likely aware of how "closed off" they can be. When you go to a world, you're there for a set experience. Unless the author makes changes or they give you access to the world's files, almost no worlds can be truly personalized without the use of external editors and direct access to the project files. If you and your friends want to do something there that isn't provided by the author by default, you typically just have to leave and go find other worlds until you find one with the functions you're looking for.
Unrivaled in-game freedom and collaboration
One of Resonite's biggest strengths is what you're able to do in-game, and it extends far beyond just world creation. If you've ever played Little Big Planet and used create mode, it's a pretty similar experience in that aspect. The things you make or find in one world can be saved into your inventory and taken elsewhere, whether they're functional cars, spaceships, tools, furniture, weapons, food, memes, avatars, etc. Much like LBP, you're also able to simultaneously work with others in your world. Even just for hanging out you're given way more freedom than other platforms give. As long as the original author permits it, you can also make edits and save personal copies of existing worlds all without having to leave the game. The only limits on what you can do are your time and your understanding of Resonite's systems. There are also the storage space limitations, though there are subscription plans to increase your limits. The most basic tier is $10/year, which I consider to be very fair.
A significantly fairer and more honest monetization model
On that note, Resonite's monetization model is significantly more fair to their users when compared to other platforms. While it does ultimately result in less funding for Resonite than what they could be getting, Resonite respects their users and actively avoids the more predatory practices that are unfortunately commonplace within most modern live service platforms. As an example, a larger competing platform recently introduced Twitch-esque "hype trains." These have been colloquially referred to as "scam trains", so this should give you a general idea of how that type of practice is received.
The learning curve and in-game support
Monetization tangent aside, let's get back to Resonite's systems. Learning new systems almost always takes time. It can be (and often is) extremely intimidating for a lot of people. Resonite's systems aren't any different from any other space's systems in that aspect. It'll take time, patience, and likely a fair amount of failure and frustration. The primary difference is that others can help you understand how these systems work completely in-game. People can and will help you if you ask, though there are also plenty of tutorials around to help with some aspects. As an example, this one goes over the avatar import process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCq9mjlSYb4
Community and moderation concerns aren't unique to Resonite
I'm not the most social person in the world and just prefer to hang out without saying too much, so I can't really speak to how the community is or isn't. That being said, to the extent that I have interacted with people, I haven't seen anything negative that's solely unique to Resonite. If you have problems with how others act online, or if you tend to get into trouble with moderation frequently, you're probably going to have similar issues here. Many of the concerns that I've seen can be applied to virtually every other online platform in existence, but I digress.
A recommended experience, despite being less established
This is also from the perspective of a content creator who has made worlds on both Resonite and VRC. As of writing, across all of my worlds, I've got 48,317 visits on VRC (source) and 255 visits on the Resonite versions of those worlds, respectively. What you see with those worlds is what you get in VRC. In Resonite, you can make edits to these worlds and save your own copies without ever leaving the game. While my work is less seen on Resonite, I find the creative freedom to be something that makes it the platform more worth spending my time on, personally. You can do an absolute ton in Resonite that you're just not able to do on other platforms. The main thing is that it's not as "established" as the monolith that's VRChat, so there's ultimately less content to work with. Overall, though, I still find it to be the most interesting game in the social VR space at the moment, and would strongly recommend giving it a genuine chance.

"Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!"
If this game was a little more Optimized then it would definitely replace VRC. It has an amazing community, and it's content creation systems are awesome. Would recommend if u have a PC better than Mine
I love this game! I've been playing it since it released and I have made many core memories with the people I have met on here. When I say you can do anything you could imagine in here I seriously mean it. There are people who have crafted full on super powers, combat systems, educational tools, accommodations for those with disabilities and so many other useful and fun things you possibly wouldn't have ever thought about making in other games. There is a steep learning curve with a lot of knowledge taught being through word-of-mouth or by sifting through the Resonite Wiki, but the community is so kind and so willing to help that you will make countless friends along the way. Even if you aren't someone who codes there is plenty of things you can make. Materials, particle systems, and avatars can all be made within the game and if you ever get stuck you can ask anyone nearby and they would be pleased to help! Even if you aren't interested in creating or coding it's still so much fun to hang out with your friends in a world and just vibe. When I started playing this game I didn't really know how to do much and it was intimidating at first, but there were so many people who wanted to help me learn that over time I got into 3D modeling and particle systems. I do not know how to code at all but despite that I am able to make fun effects and models that others can use in their projects. It's so fun being a part of a community that wants to learn and create together because everyone has their own strengths. While this platform is still growing, changing, and optimizing, being along for the ride has been great. Everyone can find enjoyment in this game!
I don't want my computer to host instance to the public. The game uses p2p or something like that similar to what GTA 5 or VRChat does which makes you easily vulnerable to extremely malicious attacks no thank you. Also game barely runs at 60fps
Lots of gay stuff... Too much gay stuff, in fact.
As of now no I dont recommend, Theres lots to like and theres quite a few things to dislike. As a new player it will be very hard getting into it, Yes theres tutorials in-game to show you the ropes but the barrier to entry to actually enjoy your time is very hard to reach. Theres just not enough QOL features this game needs more time in the oven The games player base is very stagnant (Since launch) hardly anything is new user friendly. If you want more people to join the community listen to new player feedback but each update is just another technical thing that only experienced players would benefit from. If you enjoyed anyland this game is for you, if you like vrchat it wont be as easy. You need to be really autistic about creating things in this game to get enjoyment
resonite is fun and the people i met is nice and helping this game is quite intresting to it allowing you to create and change everything within the game including the world allthough i would recommend you to get a decent pc before playing this game it is simmalr to vrchat but way less restrictive due to the fact that you can create within the game and customise your menus to how you see fit without having to pay someone to do it for you or struggle to learn within blender
At the moment I think this is the most creative vr space to be in with the most engaging tools to build with. You can physically do way more then any vr space out there so far and its slowly getting better with each coming month. There are still big flaws the team seems to be working on however like the ik being some what limiting and being a little wonky, there are features like costume materials that are still down the pipe line with no estimated release and because of the small team side ive heard issues of uneven handed moderation. But even so most of these issues are slowly getting worked through and the platform is improving so for an early access title I think its well worth playing and as long as you dont get into fights with people and but heads with moderation theres a very little chance youll ever get in trouble
Friendship ended with VRChat. Now Resonite is my best friend :D I REALLY like this game. In some ways it's an upgrade to VRC!
