This game gets a bad rap for being unlike the rest in the series. While it is true it's more of a hack and slash/shooter zombie game rather than the true horror the rest of the series tends to be, it's still unbelievably fun. I think the newer installments have had their time in the sun to harken back to what made the series so great, but there's just something magical about the campy action movie feeling of this game. The co-op is such a good addition to this game and you will have some of the most fun playing this with someone close to you. Like watching a bad horror movie. I'm glad some of the mechanics in this game have made a return in 9, like the environmental take downs. I only have a few cons from this game. One, if you play solo, the AI for your partner is... not great. So many QTE's and chase scenes were ruined by the incompetence of your partner for the chapter. A bit too ambitious for it's time. Two, the cover system sucks. So often you will move just the wrong way and fly out of cover only to be hailed with bullets. And three, why does Ada look white? What's all that about? Weird design choice. Much love, but that is very much not a white woman, capcom. I'm glad her design got a huge overhaul in the remakes. Anyway, incredibly fun game for it's flaws and camp. No one thought they could one up Chris punching a boulder, but somehow they did it. Incredible work.
