Requiescence

Have no playtime on steam as i played the 18+ version. Finished all routes and endings and i have to say i loved it. I get the feeling that the game was made by fans of BL and yaoi as it manages to avoid all the things i (and my friends i have recommended this game to) hate about VNs and replace them with exactly the kind of things we want. The biggest of these being a likable main character. While i understand the need to make your MC as bland as possible to draw in a larger player base i find it annoying and insufferable to play like that. So to have an MC whith not only his own personality but to be likable and relatable is a rare thing and very welcome. Im very excited for CoB and i really hope they keep making games this way. The only bad thing i can say is that my 18+ version seemed to have a bug where the choice needed to go down Kauls route did not appear but i just logged into it on steam, got to that point, saved it and then went back to the 18+ and all was well.

Requiescence is one of my favorite visual novels on steam. 10/10 will buy from Argent Games again. Pros: -The story. I love a good adventure story. -Extremely long. It felt like a really good book. -Never boring -Likable characters. -Awesome soundtrack. -Free H patch -Kymil's voice ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) -All six endings were unique. I had fun finishing them all. Cons: -The art was...okay. Some derpy faces here and there, but nothing too distracting. -I felt like choices hardly mattered in the game. All you had to do is stay close to your desirable route and you get your ending. -The voice acting was also...okay. The voice actor of Carrault was too gruff and Seere was too nasaly, but they were managable. I can't wait for Chess of Blades, fam.

This VN builds up slowly but stick with it. I almost gave up after seemingly endless dreary backgrounds and repetitive tunnel shots without a sense of a plot but I'm glad I persisted. If you buy the game here on Steam, there's a pop up when you launch that game. Use that URL on your phone to create an Itch.io account. From there you can download a Windows copy of the R18+ version of this game. Or an Android one if you're into squinting at a 6" screen. Very hot love scenes that flesh out (no pun intended) the story and the relationships even more. Something seems to be missing if you read through the PG13 one first time around like I did. Sex always complicates things, doesn't it? :) Once the main characters are all assembled, like Your Dry Delight and Highway Blossoms, their stories pull you in. There are 3 different romance branches and you have to complete the first 2 to get to the 3rd, but each one is fully worthwhile exploring. Each man has his own demons (ironic to say that for this particular novel) and you as the MC have the ability to help them through it. I was impressed by the sophistication of the wisdom each character had to add to the relationship with the MC as well. Kudos to the devs for such thoughtful story telling! The final story is the most complex, the longest to finish and in its way, the most rewarding. But that seems fitting because this is a very long VN (17 hours of play for me) overall and the final ending is the one that is most complete in realizing the goals of the MC and his future. So wish Argent would keep making BL VN!!

Eine fesselnde Story, die mich im Bann gehalten hat. Je nach Wahl des "Love Interest" entfalten sich verschiedene Perspektiven der Story. In grafischer Hinsicht hätte ich mir etwas mehr Vielfalt, grade was die Hintergründe anbelangt gewünscht. Die 6 verschiedenen Enden sind recht leicht freispielbar. Definitiv eher im Shonen-Ai Sektor angesiedelt (kein Yaoi). Was ich zu bemängeln habe ist ganz eindeutig die Synchro: hier hätte es gern etwas mehr Herzblut sein dürfen. Alles in Allem aber durchaus ein empfehlenswertes Game, mit leichten Mängeln hier und da, die aber durch die packende Story wert gemacht werden.

剧透预警 哇QAQ，玩Carrault线真的难受死我了。当我开始意识到Seere对Carrault的感情的瞬间开始，就完全不存在任何好的游戏体验了，我满脑子都是“对不起，我真的不是故意的。但我必须通这条线才能进Kaul线。”。那种从别人手里（还是Seere这样的超可爱的角色）抢走对方最珍视的东西的感觉……我真想当场去世。 Spoiler Warning Feel so painful when I playing Carrault‘s route. Since the moment I realizad Seere is deep in love with Carrault, It just hardly for me to enjoy this romance anymore. The only reason I keep going was for unlock Kaul's route. That guilty feeling about taking away someone's treasure overwhelmed me, especially when "someone" means a lovely character like Seere……I rather DIE than doing things like that:(

Honestly... I didn't expect this game to be this thought provoking and having rather great lessons... Some of which even attributed to me... Even now. That coupled with few lines of humor here and there? ([u]Actual[/u] funny humor...!) You got yourself an interested reader! Sure this has "quick get together" romance... But after reading "These Nights in Cairo"... I understood why. Also... This game actually EXPLAINS why it happens the way it does. Kudos game. Kudos. I liked the characters and actually [u]wanted[/u] to learn about what makes them tick and what darkness they carried. The twist with the secret character is good and even his "secret" (what he traded) made me go "waaaaaa...?!" I had the r18+ for visual entertainment and well... When those scenes occurred, in the back of my mind I thought "this would be a great time to get attacked"... Yet at the same time... They didn't know what would happen next, so I just tried not to think how many "spirits" were watching them... XD And no, I am in no way shape or form making fun of lewd scenes. They were GOOD. *nods* Oh and this game has an intro too! Didn't expect that. Foreboding tune to accompany it as well! :D Great story and game. I didn't think any less from the Developers who made "Red Embrace" (Dom... *sighs*)... But this time... I liked the whole thing and not just one route above all others. Just thank you. I will surely remember these lessons as the future descends upon us. :D :) <3

Great game. Thanks so much for detailing how to access both regardless of which platform we buy them from. Now I've finished all routes I can definitely say this is one of my favourite BL VNs. I always play my least favourite character first to get them out of the way, but they happened to be so cute, I was as surprised as the MC was to actually grow to really like his angry lil self haha I also found the bodyguard endearing from the beginning and loved the mage. Both are very pretty and amusing. Below I will review the Trigger Warnings, pros, cons, bugs, accessibility features, and suggestions for improvement. Trigger Warnings: *PG version: Child abuse (mention, not detailed) and Slavery, *18+ version: Slavery, Dubious consent/ r*pe (bad endings ONLY), Pros: *Gay, *Disabled character, *Voice acting, *Interesting characters and really beautiful scenes, *Complete gallery *Plenty of save file spaces, and you can save at any point, *18+ content on Itchio, and PG options without story content lost, *Steam and itchio included when buying on both platforms, *Detailed instructions (via itchio) on how to get copies on both platforms from each purchase, *Long demo available, Cons: *No log option to read anything you've passed, which is sometimes needed, *No characters of colour; the only potentially non-white character was a demon, *No Steam achievements, *Due to the PG nature of the Steam version, bad endings are cut without the ending prologue style scenes. Bugs: *Auto speed doesn't account for the voice acting so sometimes cut out the words spoken, (lack of a log made this worse), *Fighting scenes sometimes had bright white flashes and backgrounds during text display. The flashes do not require an epilepsy warning thankfully, however the brightness can trigger neurological conditions in people with light sensitivity like myself, especially the prolonged backgrounds, *Sometimes the sound would skip/loop 6-10x during transitions; this usually happened when going from basic descriptions to someone speaking. While usually it loops music, on one occasion, a certain erm moaning noise, was looped, which was pretty funny tbh. Accessibility: *Emotive partial voice acting, *Skip buttons; Slower skip for skimming text, & Quick skip for jumping to the next action option, *Adjustable text speed and for the auto speed, *Sound adjustments available separately for music, Special Effects & voice acting,Text is clear with a simple font and good contrast, Suggestions: *Option to remove bright flashing; consider a faded or pastel background for prolonged backgrounds so reading is easier, *Provide trigger warnings for; non-consensual sex, slavery, child abuse, *Use (or have an option for) dyslexia friendly font, *Address bugs for transition looping and auto cutting out speech, *In future work I would suggest a more diverse background would enhance your work. Whether it's different body types, trans men, or POC. Including a disabled character was a great start. I would absolutely recommend this game. Since CoB's on Kickstarter now, this review is long overdue. After playing through all three routes on /another/ version of this, I've quite a bit of mixed feelings. Ultimately I'd still recommend it. If you can go in with an open mind, you'll be able to appreciate Requiescence for being a lovingly crafted tribute to fantasy themed BL games. [b]Scripting[/b]: Given the limited number of assets, the developers did a great job of leveraging them to convey the experience. The CGs were few but they weren't just pretty static images for the most part. In fact, it's a bit reminiscent of Lamento. [b]Characters[/b]: The main characters at least, were well written and showed more depth than simple character tropes. I wasn't particularly obsessed with any one of them but they were all believable and likeable in their own right. For the record I went with Damian first, his VA was... interesting. [b]CGs/Sprites[/b]: The art was hit and miss. Being a novice in digital art myself, I tend to be overly critical when it comes to perspective and anatomy, which appeared somewhat off in most of the CGs. The character portraits were a ways better in that respect. [b]Voices[/b]: This game is partially voiced but the VAs portrayed the characters well. My only complaint is the lack of consistency in volume. Most voices were too soft but every now and then, an interjection would make my ears ring. Special mention goes to Damian's VA who has the sort of accent that you hate at the beginning but sorely miss when the game is over. [b]Music[/b]: There were some lovely scores here, they definitely added to the overall tone of the story in creating a gothic fantasy setting. Overall, Requiescence is an enjoyable experience for those looking for a BL visual novel and are open to trying something made outside of Japan. It may be important to note that this is the first project made by a team of two students. I'm looking forward to seeing great improvements in their upcoming project.

我真的很喜欢这个游戏的设定——发生在中世纪的末世故事。游戏的美工和文字简介不失精致，养眼极了。配音有感情而专业，bgm氛围感强。但是，语言不通，文字量大而且生僻词多，就算我有翻译器也吃不消。只能暂时搁置了…………

Pros: Choices have profound effects on the story, nice art, good mood music and hours of fun story. Cons: A few slightly misogynistic jokes as is typical for most games (comparing mc to 'damsel in distress', shy 'like a girl" etc..) . Overall: A very fun game.
