Very cool tool for DMs, I just finished a project to use a TV as "playmat" for my D&D campaign and Realm Engine made a really good impression for everything i hoped for. Weather effects are nice although they are hard to see from on top view, the only thing I hope for in the future (maybe i didn't find it yet) is the possibility to place multiple objects at once by dragging the mouse button. That's only a minor disadvantage though since the only objects where that matters are foundations and there are "bulk builds" ready in the menu. Object rotation is a bit complicated, too, i would have prefered an option using the mouse wheel, but all in all the tool is amazing. Edit: After playing a little longer i'm still very happy with the engine, some improvements here and there, can't complain about the rotating of objects anymore. Some people seem to have problems with the help page, it worked well with me from the beginning
So this is in closed beta, meaning that if you're not a Kickstarter backer or you don't know one you have no easy way to actually play this beyond the map making functionality. Why the devs would release for free this when no one but their backers can play without any obvious warning is a bit bizarre. I'd suggest not bothering until it's at least in open beta, oh and looks like the free version won't let you host games anyway, so if you don't plan to buy it, or you don't know a DM/GM/Storyteller who already owns the paid version, give this a miss until you do. If I ever DO get into a situation where I can actually use this program as intended, I'll give a new assessment.

Very good builder, like 3d Inkarnate. Needs a lot of UI work but it's usable. The player side is behind a paywall, and I'm not paying to test a game. @Dev response: That's actually an admirable business model, not enough digital tabletop games use it. I planned on checking out the updates anyway, it seems like a very useful tool, eventually.
Lots of things to fix but I'll focus on one for this review. ctrl+Z (undo) does not undo the last action! It removes the last thing placed in the order placed. I moved a stone block by accident (easy to do btw) and when I hit ctrl+z it removed something else. Undo should undo the last action not remove the last place.
For Early access this program is phenomenal. The fact that the base program is free is extra icing. Please support the developer. (I'm a Patreon supporter as of monday) This is done by fans and you can tell. That being said, it is early access so expect bugs, and missing content. I have 12hrs into the program and i'm still just playing with the most basic functions. (i just learned to move and resize 10hrs in...) Keep going at it and watch the tutorials they have on Youtube. Excellent job once again and i can not wait to see what the future will hold. Also the import 3d models function is awesome as there are a number of high quality STL files floating around for D&D. (Including 300+ from https://www.shapeways.com/shops/dmworkshop )
this is a horrible map maker, and the updates just stopped. the developer doesn't care about the people using it. they only want your money
You should ABSOLUTELY get this program if you like D&D mapmaking/Game hosting. Yes, it's got plenty of kinks and flaws to get ironed out. But in it's current state, it's 100% better than most mapmaking software out there. Once mulitplayer support gets added it'll be TOTALLY worth using as a VTT platform. I highly suggest following the development of this one Can't wait for it to get further along in development! Count me in!
IT'S FREE, it can make sweet 3D dungeons that you can stream to friends, both top and isometric views. What's not to love? Excellent find for any DMs on a budget.
Gostei muito, achei facil de mexer e consigo ver que esse virtual tabletop ainda vai crescer muito.
If you are looking for beautiful, realistic VTT for you to use, this is the one! I dont do too much steam reviews so bear with me :). As of right now (April 17th, 2021) it is newly released and being worked on by one developer who has worked extremely hard to make this tool powerful and effective. Jeez I'm sounding like an ad here. But in all seriousness, I've had times where I find a bug or request a feature and within 24 hours it's done! It might take a bit of getting used to especially for people who have not made too many maps before, but once you get the hang of it, you're set! Cons: Newly released so it can be clunky at times, but if you are reading this even a month after this review, I bet that con will have been changed! Same goes for glitches, although I am in a beta version so that is to be expected. Most of the other cons are just related to it's infancy, such as some features being disabled and enabled again for a short time due to large bugs. Pros: Any bugs I have found have been quickly patch, aswell as assets being added. The developer also does his own assets and they are superb! Him making his own assets means that if you want a frog gargoyle wielding a pinata like a battleaxe and wearing a fez hat, the only thing stopping you is... well, convincing the developer to get that ♥♥♥♥ in there! Super solid and versitaile system, online multiplayer is already a thing, custom 3D files are a thing, Animated minis are there, and may i add it looks stunning! Also only the GM has to buy the game, there is a free player version that anyone can download! Sorry for any spelling errors and how all over the place it is, if you have any questions I can answer them in a comment (maybe, if i can respond to questions?) Happy Sailing!
