Raw Footage is a first-person horror game, travel with nothing but your camera through forests inhabited by vicious creatures while capturing what footage you can of them. You’re not the first, but if you can expose these beasts to the world you’ll be the last.

RAW FOOTAGE is a fairly basic Unity asset flipped first person horror adventure, one of many hundreds, if not thousands of these glutting Steam. The "developer" paid for/pirated a few Unreal Marketplace asset packs, arranged them haphazardly in a first person adventure game template, and submitted it to Valve as if they're real game developers. This one has you wandering around various spooky forest environments trying to get a photo of a monster, which would be fine if it was implemented sincerely, but this one doesn't come across like it. The game doesn't work for me, it crashes immediately on launch, to desktop. It can't be played, and gamers should be aware of this risk before spending their time downloading and installing this low quality shovelware. Two notable criteria for what makes an asset flip instead of legitimate use of stock assets are whether those assets comprise the majority of the game, and whether the "developer" properly credited the people who created most of the assets in the game. This game fails both of those tests. The "developers" here didn't credit any of the artists and real, actual game developers who created the assets here, so this is plagiarism, as well as cash grab shovelware. Taking this shovelware seriously as if it was a genuine attempt to make a game, it doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. The implementation here is of such poor quality, the developer couldn't work out how to make the game display in fullscreen, it only runs in a window. Because the game is broken and unplayable for me, it may also not work for other gamers. This is a solid reason to approach this game with some skepticism. You're forced to sign a highly questionable yet legally unenforceable End User License Agreement... for such a relatively low effort, low quality game this comes across more as a delusion of grandeur than anything else. This agreement includes questionable requirements that may attempt to revoke consumer law protections that gamers expect to have, which is also highly problematic. Developers must learn they are here to serve gamers, not control them. I had my cat walk over the keyboard while the EULA was displaying, which fixed that problem for me. The game is currently free, but the developers were charging money for it. Nothing speaks more to a developers belief in themselves and their product than making their game available for everyone without remuneration, but this is also in some ways an acknowledgement that the game failed to achieve any commercial success (unsurprising due to the quality issues). It's a shame in this case that the implementation is below the minimum standards a dedicated PC game should offer to enthusiasts. The quality here is simply too low for me to recommend, even for free.
Profile Features Limited!
Valve have marked this game as "Profile Features Limited" at the time of this review. This is usually caused by poor sales figures and low community acceptance for the game (to date). Until this status changes, this game will not give you +1 to your Game Collector badge count, appear in profile achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this game.
A good looking game with a great setup, cool monsters, and tense atmosphere... ...so why does it suck? You're a cryptid photographer I guess? And it's your job to find the beasties that bump in the night. You wander LARGE areas with only your camera, and whatever supplies you find,as you try to film your elusive prey. The game has 3 levels. To clear a level, you need to film a certain amount of footage of the monster, while also finding at least 3 human corpses. There are 5 corpses in each level, they aren't hard to find and seem to be in the same place each time...the problem is the footage. You need A FREAKIN' LOT of footage...let's talk about why that's an issue: ...I'm NOT KIDDING,you need A LOOOOT of footage. The creatures seldom stand still, and will attack you on sight. You can only hear the creatures when they're VERY close. You have unlimited sprint, but can't outrun them. You can film while running backwards...but it WILL catch you. LV1's creature does 3/4 hp with one attack,LV2's does 1/2 hp. If they sense you're recording them from a distance they run. After landing a good hit on you they disappear. You are VERY SLOW in getting your camera out. ...add all that to that how big the maps are,it's difficult to find them when they're just wandering around. You can lure them to you by whistling/banging stuff...but they'll attack. To defend yourself: You have a flashlight that never runs out of battery. The creatures are drawn to sound, not light. There are several health ups scattered around. There's a baseball bat and a gun with very limited ammo you can find, but how many hits it takes to scare the monster off seems to vary. The game says "the goal is not to kill the creature"...can you actually kill it? If you do manage,do you fail? I don't know. To briefly talk about the levels: LV1 is a fairly open rocky forest with a lake in the middle, very dark at night. LV2 is a VERY DENSE winter forest with grass as tall as you, similar to LV1,but harder to traverse. LV3 ...I don't know. Didn't get there. It took a LOT of effort to even clear LV1,and I kinda cheesed it...I accidentally managed to get the creature stuck on a rock, and just stood there till I had enough footage. if it hadn't gotten stuck I really don't know if I could have cleared at all. I tried to hype myself up for LV2,but it quickly became such a pain in the butt that when the creature got me...I'd just had enough... To finish things off... in the way of technical issues, the only thing I noticed was a significant frame drop in LV2 with all the thick foliage...so at least the game was running fairly well. ...And the only nitpicks I had were: How fast the day/night cycle is. You have to hold TAB to see how much footage you actually have, shoulda been on the camera. You don't take your items with you to the next level. ...so here's the thing, for a game about hunting cryptids...this kinda has the mechanics you'd want right? The problem is in how they're done, everything is just too much. The maps are too big. You need too much footage. The monsters hit too hard and run too fast. You need too many health ups/bullets....etc. There are a lot of good elements here,so I won't say "AvOid ThIs GaMe At AlL CoStS!!1!" But the amount of effort this needs to clear even one level is nuts. to say nothing of how long doing so takes. There are other monster hunting games...try them instead.

Muito mal otimizado.
sorry, no. don''t waste your time
The game is made by an underaged Lithuanian. And having that in thoguht I think you should give it a try. Also not to mention the game looks like it's made for a school project. But sadly these are the only pluses this game has. It's a complete time waster, you're walking and taking pictures of dead bodies/beasts. Looking back the 0.3H I spent on this game, is just running around and jumping searching for dead bodies. And sometimes being attacked by a beast. If you want to support a underaged Lithuanian, you should give it a try. But if you're looking for a good free to play game, then it's a hard pass.
its free so i cant complain
