Railroader, oh boy what a ride. First thought when I saw this was, "Oh cool! A multiplayer train simulator. This should be fun." A few blinks and I now have over 300 hrs in the game. This isn't just a train sim, it's on its way to being a proper Railroad management Sim. I enjoyed the map progression really gives you something to work towards. But what really blew me away was how this game switched from a train sim to a "management" sim. I often find myself "planning" how and when I want to run either my passenger or freight service. Very excited to see where the MOW update takes us. Wait a minute, custom timetables, managing multiple different consists, and a map you need to save up for and pay to increase, close enough, welcome back Railroad Tycoon. 10/10 "Stimulate the TISM."
Easily one of the best train games out there currently if you are interested in simple railway operations. Its not highly complex like some simulators, but feels much more driven than a lot of more aimless sandbox style games. If you like switching, this game is the pick. Additionally, there is a decent amount of modding options for additional content, and the modding scene is only improving.
After playing the tutorial and a few hours more, I am very positive about this game. The engine controls are good although a bit basic, after loading coal and water, the boiler magically is up to steam, I understand the focus of this game is more on driving than on the engineering part, it would have looked good to have an animated stoker on the cab. Animations look good overall, performance on my PC is also good on the highest settings. Little details are slobby like, the valve gears always run forward even when they are in neutral or reverse, I think this would be an easy fix in a future update. I have not yet tried the multi-player or AI engineer features, as a single player game it is already very enjoyable.
I've enjoyed this game a lot I've learned a lot on how to run a steam locomotives and diesel locomotives. I am more into steam engines than anything else, they built the country that we live in to day. And I am looking forward seeing where this game goes. And yes I am a female gamer lol and a small model railroader.
Its a fun railroading game. Just waiting for the MOW update...
whoever gives this game a bad review is truly stupid you have to understand it its just so peak
Love this game. It is so immersive and addicting that I can hardly function in real life. I've always been curious about how all the controls in a steam engine functioned. In short order I not only know what the main controls do but can use them comfortably to run the engines. But this game is far more than just a train driving sim. You start with a small,, very manageable railroad and expand it at your own pace as you develop organization and operational skills. You can keep it simple and enjoy the simple joys of moving your train thru beautiful landscapes or you can challenge yourself to crazy levels if you add serious mileage and businesses creating an empire that I don't think one person could handle. Which brings me to the multiplayer aspect. You can have others crew the trains with you or even multiple crews, or run the CTC panel or just be passengers. It beautifully integrates A. I. tech into the game to do whatever part of the system you want someone (something} else to handle. You can be brakeman with AI performing engineer jobs for you. Whatever you like. When I was much younger I lived on the floor with my Lionel Trains all around me. I saw several Chip and Dale cartoons where they would get in and drive Donald's miniature train around which drove Donald crazy. I dreamed of being able to get in and drive a train around like Chip and Dale did. This game provides me with exactly that opportunity, except the trains and landscapes, and buildings don't look like models at all. They are so well portrayed, much of what is seen while playing this game looks like railfanning real trains, not a game at all. And the sounds, awesome. The choices of whistles, amazing. The low rumble of massive weight is felt rather than heard. I can't wait to show this at our next operating session to my model railroader buddies. They are gonna race to get their own copy. Thank you for creating and offering this game, which is my favorite ever, and that's saying a lot.
