It's a puzzle game about punching, and punchzle game if you will. Also it's free, so go on, gamble a stamp.
really fun concept. would love to see a more expanded single player experience and more local multiplayer stuff as well.

PUNCH FOREVER is a really simple game, but I think it gets a lot of mileage out of that simplicity. I am basically punching my way through a series of small levels where timing and positioning matter more than anything else. The physics are a big part of the fun because every hit has some weight behind it and I have to get used to how my character moves and attacks. It came out of the Fun #1 game jam project from Ludum Dare 54, and the finished version keeps that small arcade feeling while adding a few more modes. The main campaign has 26 levels, and I like that most of them are short enough that I can replay them without feeling like I am wasting a huge amount of time. The challenge is mostly about learning the timing, working out when to attack and getting through each section without making too many mistakes. Some levels look very simple at first, but once I start trying to clear them properly I realise I need to pay more attention to where I am standing and when I throw a punch. That gives the basic combat more depth than I expected. Survival mode is probably where I get the most replay value. Instead of working through fixed levels, I have to deal with waves of enemies and bosses while improving my abilities and unlocking perks as I go. I like this because it gives me a reason to keep experimenting with different upgrades instead of only trying to finish the campaign. It also makes the physics feel a bit more chaotic because I have more enemies coming at me and less time to think about every move. Arena mode is a nice extra too. I can fight in a two player battle using the same screen, and there is also a ladder style setup where I can take on opponents and change the rules around the fights. I do not think this mode is deep enough to turn the game into a serious fighting game, but that is not really what I expect from it. For me, it works more as a fun extra that gives the physics another place to shine, especially when I want something quick and silly. The biggest weakness is that the whole thing is still quite limited. The 26 campaign levels give me a decent amount to work through, but there is only so much variety I can get from punching enemies around small arenas. Survival adds more replay value, but the basic gameplay remains the same. The minimalist presentation also means there is not much story or character development to keep me interested outside the actual fighting. I think that is fine for a free arcade game, but it definitely stops me from putting it anywhere near my highest ratings. I do like how much the game commits to its physics though. I am not just pressing an attack button and watching a normal animation play out. I have to get used to the momentum, range and timing of my punches, and the harder challenges make me appreciate that more. There are also achievements that give me some extra goals to work towards, and the game is completely free, so I do not feel like I am asking it to provide the same amount of content as a much bigger paid game. Overall, PUNCH FOREVER is a fun little physics brawler that does exactly what I want from a small arcade game. I like the short campaign, the timing based combat, the survival mode and the simple arena fights. It is easy to pick up, but there is enough room to improve that I can spend more time with it if I want to. The limited variety and lack of a bigger progression or story keep it from reaching a really high score for me, but the free price and enjoyable physics make it worth playing when I want something quick and ridiculous.
