"Project Wasteland: The Mythiclands" is more abandoned Early Access garbage, someone tried to make a third person ARPG without knowing how, then gave up. I will say that I don't think this is any kind of asset flip, the game assets look so bad no self respecting asset creator would even consider publishing them.
The developers abandoned this 4 years and 4 months ago. It will never be completed. This unfinished game is just polluting Steam and making it harder for gamers to find genuinely, completely made games.
The graphics here are particularly awful, so bad that it actually stands out as one of the worst looking games on Steam. Quite an accomplishment. It's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. Gaming is a primarily visual medium, and if developers want to succeed, they must understand that it's not an area for compromise.
It's free... now, but it wasn't before. The developer was charging $9 USD for this. This shows an incredible sense of imagination and optimism from the developer, none of which is reflected in this abandoned Early Access train wreck.
Price barriers, especially on unfinished, low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. This is a slap in the face to anyone naive enough to back this project thinking the developer would make good on their promises. Instead, the developers kept the money from all the backers they scammed. Not a single cent has been refunded.
Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 9 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away.
Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it?
Nope. This isn't worth downloading. While this didn't cost me any money up front, I still feel ripped off.
