This game is almost like a rage game mixed with a point-n-click adventure game (and I'm not usually one to go for rage games at all). There are so many layers that it really does keep you coming back and just...you HAVE to find all the secrets. I played the demo and knew I was going to buy the game, and today played through almost 2 hours here on my account and another 2 hours on my partner's account together with him, and it's noon on launch day, so, you know xD I find myself playing for an hour or so, learning something new, then not quite sure where to go next, getting frustrated, then having a realization later on that I have to explore. I've never been quite so engaged with a game like this before.
Positives

Huge sense of exploration going through the story. You'll play through, then figure out a new concept that completely changes everything. It's definitely not a straightforward game, and really makes you think. After I played the demo, I basically forced some friends and family members to play it as well, and loved watching different approaches to the game that then made me rethink how to go about things.
Realistic printer rage xD
A+ corporate jargon and lore. You can actually read the report you're printing, and find out more about the world you live in.
Responsive dev! My initial review mentioned the screen shake effect could make it harder for some people to play for accessibility reasons, and dev just pushed an update with screen shake intensity setting (along with some other bug fixes)!

Negatives

Some things will only combine one-way, so, A used on B will work, but not B used on A.
The wife character is....cringey and tropey and just...could have been more interesting vs "nagging wife." You can talk with her, but as far as I can tell, she can't speak back with actual words? She just walks around feather dusting and if she's in the same room as you, your rage goes up. I hope there's something I'm missing here that will be revealed down the line that humanizes her, but as-is that whole dynamic just takes away from the enjoyment of the game for me. ****EDIT: okay, there is for sure more here, but it takes quite a bit of time to get into, and I'm not quite at the point where I can give a full assessment, but there is depth here.
Can't save game?? The game is meant to be experienced with multiple playthroughs, but not being able to save progress means you can't really just pick it up to play for a few minutes and finish up the playthrough later, and a full playthrough to the end will take you over an hour, easily. :/
This masterpiece is the product of a mad man and has filled all printer cravings to the point that I never want to see or use one again. 10/10
Full disclosure: I am friends with the developer and helped playtest the game. I really think Paul has made something special with Printersim. I am not a big player of point and click adventures or that style of puzzle game, but I was hooked from the moment I started playing. The game starts off like a playground; you're meant to be printing the report, but there's so much other stuff to do. Every time you plan to focus your efforts on one thing, you discover a shiny new toy to play with and find yourself four days down the line burning all your possessions or trying to cook the perfect diamond. Ten to twenty hours in, you'll have worked your way through bluesky and greensky thinking, and truely be in the realm of the orange sky. Your Saffron Prince, praise be upon him, will be pleased with your sacrifice. And you'll have figured out how to get the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ scissors that your friend managed to get in the first five ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ minutes of playing. Become part of the tiger team. Pick up your PUS standard issue copy of Printersim today.
I loved and hated every minute of this so far. Funny, smart, surprising and absolutely rage inducing. Good job!
a blended adventure puzzle game where you're balancing the value of hanging onto puzzle objects vs cashing them in. absolutely infuriating I put my fist through my screen. five stars
Never been so happy to not own a printer
Accurate printer simulator: I ran out of ink I spent all my money on ink cartridges Printer jammed I cleared the paper Paper ran out I sold the microwave to buy paper The printer broke I smashed the printer in a rage I repaired the printer I sold my soul to the devil I still couldn't get my printing done on time 10/10 would sell my house again
I am just at the start of this game but it is already full of surprises and all the little things. I love it, I actually laughed when playing this game, the details in it are funny and really smart. Looks like a simple game but its really awesome. Would recommend this to enjoy, I'm sure I'll be playing this some more and uncover everything! :D
Way more complex than the simplistic artstyle implies. A lot of fun unraveling it too, so long as you have a decent tolerance to error noises and a little bit of trial and error.
Playing this game freshly out of college reminds me how deeply grateful I am to no longer have to print out packets for my classes each week, hoping and praying that the wretched beast of an electronic wouldn't fail on me when I needed it most. 10/10, no other device fills me with a rage deep enough to want to thrash it into pieces like printers, and this game really nails that frustration. As I saw a few others mention, the game play falls somewhere between point-and-click style adventure and rage games, leaning much more to the former. However, it never veers into the territory of "my controller is now living inside of my drywall" levels of rage game. As with any PaC game, paying attention to detail is key for the puzzles, which are rather satisfying. When I play any sort of game like this, I always check every little corner for every bit of flavor text I can find, and Printersim rewards you with fun quips and comments. The game is charming, with a lighthearted but grim sense of humor to it that I found to be incredibly amusing. Also, the game has some great trophies and secrets if you go looking. 10/10 would decimate my printer and then pass out from rage again
