Primal Reign is decent. While not the "best" VR shooter out there, it has good visuals and game mechanics. The dinosaurs move at a reduced frame rate, or so it seems, so that breaks the immersion a degree but I did have fun for the few minutes I played it. It's free, so, give it a whirl! I don't want to waste much more time playing it to see if it gets better, but, it's not bad. I just have dozens more titles I'd rather spend my VR time with.
Primal Reign is a free VR shooter game. It worked on my HTC Vive and Index and Meta Quest 3 via Steam Link system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. You are shooting waves of dinosaurs. Try it, if you like FPS games.
"Primal Reign" is a badly made VR tech demo with an Egyptian dinosaur, so let's just bash genres together until a decent idea crops up. Wait, didn't Serious Sam do that already? Yeah, they did. Wow, so this is a Serious Sam knockoff, only worse in all respects. What do you do in the game? Wave your arms around in VR to shoot/stab dinosaurs. The developer couldn't work out locomotion in VR properly so you teleport around jankily enough to make you throw up. VR exclusivity is typically the refuge of the lazy dev, those who believe slapping VR compatibility on something immediately removes all other requirements for quality... and this isn't to say you can't make a good VR game, take a look at Half-Life: Alyx, but like I said, most of the time VR exclusivity is a lot like Epic exclusivity... publish it in a way nobody will see it because you know you have a bad product, right? The game is really simple and unambitious in terms of implementation, more of a tech demo or one of those cases where an amateur developer spends $100 to publish something on Steam Direct to see if it's possible. Yes, obviously it's possible. A proof of concept, tech demo, or something that's less than a little blip on the radar isn't offering anything truly valuable to gamers. I'm not sure if this is an asset flip, but it's one of those cases where the assets just look much better than the rest of the quality of the game... a glaring inconsistency. There's no evidence, but as always, the biggest problem with asset flips besides the plagiarism is the deplorably low quality of the other aspects of the game, and even if the game assets are genuinely created for the game, the quality of the rest of the game is indistinguishable from that of asset flips. It's VR exclusive, and that shows the developer failed to understand the most basic axiom of VR game design... if the only cool thing about your product is VR support, your product is not cool. This game is fairly dated at 8 years old... and even back then it looked old and busted compared to contemporary, professionally made 3D games of the same period. It looked bad then, it looks worse now. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. This is "free" enough (not every "free" game in the "free" section is truly free, there's usually some hidden price tag), at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good, and the cost of a game is more than just financial, your time is valuable too. In terms of public reception, this failed. There's well over 130 million gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at less than 100 concurrent players, they couldn't even break three figures, and now there's basically nobody playing it. Even though it's free. This is a dismal public reception, but it's easy to see why gamers rejected it. Given that this free title won't increase your game collector count, is it worth your time to add it to your library? Not this time. This isn't worth downloading. While this won't cost you any money, you get what you pay for, and sometimes, even when the game is free, it's still not enough.
AMAZING GAME ALSO COMES WITH VIRTUAL REALITY!

This is my first review so I'm going to simplify this: Pros: +Free +Very good voice for the character that comes with you +Funny one-liners +Funny to see dinosaur bodies pile up and get in the way of the ones trying to get you +I like the little detail (Like the dead body around 7:00 [location, not time] from spawn that got brutally impaled) Cons: -Not really big -Made me feel like a wuss jumping at fake non-realistic dinos -Gets kind of laggy at times -Teleporting is NOT reliable -You have to keep holding the trigger to hold your explosive which kind of sucks Overall this is a really fun game and it's FREE so it's hard to complain
