Imagine waking up on a small dock with no recollection of who you are or how you got there. The first person you find is a grumpy, old man who enlists you to work on his ferry boat which seems to have materialized behind you.

Short bittersweet story. Atmospheric.

I really enjoyed this game, it had a good story with good visuals. My only complaint would be it crashed a f couple of times. I really liked this. 8/10

A review table for Port of Call.

[th]CATEGORY:[/th] [th]EXPECTATION:[/th] [th]SCORING:[/th]

EXAMPLE: Shows what a category(read from left to right) looks like on this table. That you are able to read this table after reading this example category. I give 0, 1, or 2 points for failing, meeting or exceeding my expectations per category and note why. After I add all the points to score the game. A perfect game earns 10 points.

AUDIO: Both diegetic and non-diegetic sounds including music, effects, voice acting, user interface, and other sound designs. Most game audio is clean, clear, and crisp, and overall enjoyable. Any significant issues are fixable with game settings. Barely 1 out of 2 points. Not having any options to change the audio in-game was daring. It is a great thing for Port of Call that the audio quality was solid.

GRAPHICAL: Particle systems and environmental effects, gameplay effects, user interfaces, cinematics, lighting and shadow, etc. Cinematics should have no stutter. Actions and other graphics have few visual hiccups that don't break gameplay. User interfaces are easy to read. Should be overall enjoyable. Any significant issues are fixable with game settings. 1 out of 2 points. Serviceable but easily forgettable. When you launch the game you have the chance to set your screen resolution and graphics quality. I crashed less when I made my screen resolution(game window) 1280x720 and set the graphics to "fastest."

P&G(PLOT & GAMEPLAY): Includes the story and settings(if applicable) and the controls, mechanics and gameplay systems that should be keeping me engaged. Game story and settings(if applicable) held my interest. Controls should feel intuitive or be reprogrammable. The mechanics and systems that should keep me engaged, at bare-minimum, stay rewarding. 2 out of 2 points. The game touches on some pretty triggering topics in interesting and impressive ways. I believe I would have gotten emotional over the story if not for the game constantly crashing(more below).

TECHNICALS: Includes game stability, presence of accessibility options, how intuitive the controls are, etc. User interface should be fluid. No major issues interrupt the gameplay and no hiccups hinder cinematics or gameplay. 0 out of 0 points. During my 66 minutes of playtime I had 5 crashes(avg. 13 minutes between crashes). These crashes resulted in me having to do pseudo-speedruns after every crash to catch up to where I was; and this took away from my enjoyment of the story..

VoC(VALUE OF CONTENT): The cost of a game, the content provided by it, my overall enjoyment from it and if I felt I got a good value from it. My enjoyment from the game content should justify what I paid for it(1 point). I should be comfortable recommending the game at the price I paid for it(1 point). If I received the game for free I do this evaluation at full-price instead. 0 out of 0 points. Due to the constant crashing of the game I cannot recommend Port of Call to anybody.

Port of Call earns 4 out of 10 points. Technical issues absolutely ruined what I believe would have been an amazing experience.
A slow journey. You move, you wait, you observe. The atmosphere does the talking. Recommended.

It's an interesting experience for a free relatively short game, mostly dialogue with a little puzzle element, if you enjoy the aesthetic definitely recommend giving it a download.
