Pocket Idler: Fishing Pond

Shallow is the word that comes to mind. It is very basic, there are only 5 things to upgrade, no meaningful choices or management, just increase the prices until the smiley face is now a frowny face then decrease by 1, upgrade the 1 of the 5 boring upgrades whenever you can, do this a few times and you're done after 5-6 hours. You can fish yourself which is not fun at all I must say because the private pond you can fish in is RNG in terms of what fish is in the pond, which is fine, but it includes fish that is impossible to catch for some reason, and that is not fine. Thankfully there is no reason for you to fish for more than 5 minutes to get 1 achievement. Aside from this private pond which takes you away from the main game so you are no longer progressing in the main game there is nothing for you to do at all, most good idlers in my experience has the option for you to actively play in one way or another whenever you want or has meaningful enough management systems that is enough on its own, this one does not in any way have a meaningful management system nor does it allow you to play the game in any way aside from the private pond which is just a throwaway feature that gives you 1 achievement after a few minutes and that's it, and as previously stated takes you away from the actual game. It's a bare-bones idler. If you like idlers very much it is one to go through one day I guess, it is quite cheap on sale, but in comparison to others I must say it lacked quite a lot. For what is it I'd give it a 'Meh, middle of the road' rating but I am forced between Thumbs Up and Thumbs Down. Pocket Idler: Fishing Pond is about as descriptive a name as you can get. It is in fact an idler game. You can click an 'Auto' button and the game will play itself, only requiring you to purchase upgrades. Not a bad little short idle game. There aren't many mechanics, just a couple purchasable upgrades, cosmetics, and some minigames. If you like little idle games, give it a shot.

I got this from a friend and gave it a shot—it’s a pretty decent idle game if you’re looking for something super chill to run in the background. I liked the auto stock and auto open/close features, they worked perfectly and made it easy to just let the game do its thing. That said, it definitely lacks depth and engagement after a while. The upgrades are fun to unlock, but it would’ve been more interesting if they actually changed up the gameplay a bit more or gave you more to interact with. As it is, you mostly set it up and watch the numbers go up. If you grab it on sale or for really cheap, I’d say it’s worth a try—just don’t expect to sink tons of active hours into it unless you enjoy these kinds of low-effort idlers. I had a pleasant enough time with it! 🎣

I tried Pocket Idler: Fishing Pond after having a great time with Bit-Cremental: Fishistry from Inner Realm Studios. Unfortunately, this game is a big letdown. It lacks depth, engagement, and fun. The progression feels dull, the gameplay is repetitive, and compared to Fishistry, everything just seems unpolished. Where Fishistry is rewarding, motivating, and full of charm, Pocket Idler leaves behind boredom and frustration. Bottom line: If you enjoyed Fishistry, I’d suggest skipping this one. I definitely can’t recommend it.

Short (6-7Hrs) casual idle game

This game starts horrendously by not letting you click on the settings to change the resolution. So it starts with a ton of text, that you literally cannot read, because it's tiny. Good job developer, maybe let people access the settings to your game before the game starts. The game is poorly translated, It seems to call fishers, fisher people. I dunno, just seems like a weird way to type... fishers. I'm guessing it's because they were gonna put fishermen, then thought hang on, there's fisherwomen as well. But fishers rolls off the tongue a lot easier than fisher people. I tried to finish the day by clicking close... it wouldn't work. I tried mashing the button, people kept coming in and leaving bad reviews because there were ♥♥♥♥ all fish in the pond. As it turns out, you have to click and hold. Why? You can click on birds that fly past... for one coin. Exactly one. Not worth the bother really. The game is extremely slow, I get that it's an idle game... but even for an idle game, there's nothing here. You can increase the ticket price for people to come and grab a single fish now and then. It lowers the rate of people that visit, but eventually your rating gets high enough that people don't seem to care. Pay me 500 bucks to come and get one fish. A lot of your time will be spent waiting for the last customer as they waste your time casting in the opposite end of the pool as the last fish. ♥♥♥♥ off already, it's been 2 minutes. And that's the game. You adjust the price of entry, and the price of fish... That's all you do. You can upgrade their equipment, or unlock better fish.... But you can also uninstall the game, refund it and get your money back. Personally, I vote for that. While you can upgrade, you're sat waiting through multiple in game days to upgrade anything. It takes a damn long time. The auto button doesn't work, so you do have to pay attention. The game promises full idle, it's wrong and there are FAR better idle games out there. In the end, I'm reminded that I literally couldn't read the game because it started in a tiny resolution. I'm reminded that maybe I should've taken that as a hint and not wasted my time on this. Time for a refund. I know fine well the game is cheap... But if it were free, I'd still give it a negative review. It wastes your time and while I don't know you at all, I know that your time, like mine, is more valuable spent literally anywhere else, than this game. Thanks for reading, or skipping to the end. I expected very little and was still disappointed. The Auto-stock and auto day night cycles don't seem to be working. Between each day it is too idle, but since the auto buttons don't work, you have to still keep watch. The game is basically you adjusting the price of the fish that get sold, and this is pretty much it for 99% of the time I played.
