Druid apprentice Jase isn’t quite ready for his final exams tomorrow, so he does what any self-respecting student would do: break into the dean’s office for something to give him a little boost. An adventure game with sarcastic British humor and classic, hand-drawn art.

Plot of the Druid: Nightwatch is a free prologue to the full game Plot of the Druid.
A fantasy point-and-click adventure game that uses high-definition hand-painted drawings to capture the feel of old-school pixel art. The script has dry, sarcastic British wit that’s reminiscent of Simon the Sorcerer, Discworld, and Harry Potter.

• The player can decide whether to deal with a situation as a human or as a ferocious animal. Well, maybe not that ferocious, but one with a unique skill set.
• Beautiful hand-painted HD artwork in the style of old-school pixel art.
• One hour of gameplay.
• Meet wacky characters, ALL fully voiced.
• Cool references to classic LucasArts and Sierra games.
• Two difficulty levels: Young Apprentice and Master of Disaster.
• Smooth 2D animations, including thrilling cutscenes.
• Immersive, charming background music.
• A hotspot reveal option to avoid pixel hunting.
• Available in Hebrew, Spanish, French, German, Italian and Russian translations.
• And the wind cries Mary!
BottomLine at the Top:
A short demo for a very promising looking P&C fantasy adventure
Intro:
It seems like fantasy adventure P&C's are quite in vogue on Steam. It's a genre that’s ripe for a P&C adventure, though hard to get just right. Based on this demo it seems that this game is well on its way to being one of the higher quality ones. -------------------------------------
Pros:
------------------------------------- -Good writing so far. -Crisp art design. -Detailed sprite animations. -Voice acting decent. -Classic floating icon control system. -Lots of unique dialogue for items in room as well as combining different objects (i.e. no reliance on "you can't do that" type scripted dialogue) -good quality of life features (double click fast move, interactive object highlight function, quicksave, autosave) -Currently supports 7 languages -Journal function to help keep track of progress. Good for if you stop playing and forget what you were doing. -------------------------------------
Meh...:
------------------------------------- -Has two difficulty settings. This is a throwback to escape from monkey island. Nice to include but I'm kind of indifferent to it as a feature. -Demo features only 7 save slots as well as autosave slot. This was not an issue for a 1 hr. demo, but I always prefer having many/unlimited saves. -Closing out inventory with an item in hand could be smoother. -Made with Unity but setup install took slightly longer than anticipated. Still worked no problem. -Only an hour long. This is fine for a demo, but it sucks I have to wait a year to play the full game! -------------------------------------
Cons:
------------------------------------- -Main complaint as others have pointed out, is the quality of the voice recordings. Since the rest of this game is so well put together things like this stick out all the more. Quality is on par with early 90's P&C adventures. -Could use some additional sound effects when certain things are happening (hearing a cough when Robin is smoking his pipe, bird squawking, council members gasping). This would really help solidify the quality of this game. -Some other minor errors need to be polished up (text not displaying correctly in certain scenes, had the cursor turn to a white square briefly when clicking on the watch).
Final Thoughts:
Very promising looking P&C game. Will be a definite pickup for me when it releases in 2022.
Old-style point and click with great promise
Plot Of The Druid demo puts the player in the place of Jase, an apprentice druid on the cusp of graduating from druid school; but with one major obstacle facing him. He has to create a healing potion to save a sick animal, and he's no good at it. So, he decides to break into the Principal's office overnight, find a healing potion, and steal it. This is the point at which the player comes in and faces a very well designed P&C adventure challenge, with a nicely crafted sequence of puzzles to resolve leading up to the discovery of what he believes will be his saviour and assurance of graduation. All of the action (until the very end) takes place within the office, and there is quite a lot to look at and interact with. Controls are straightforward and can be handled with keyboard or mouse, or a mix of both, and an easy-access reminder icon sits in the corner of the screen at all times. As someone who doesn't plug a mouse in very often, I was particularly pleased to be able to play right through this demo with just keys and trackpad. Items of interest are labelled up on pressing and holding down the spacebar (the labels disappear again when you let go, so the display does not become messy); making it easy to see where to click on your journey of discovery, and there are unexpected characters to communicate with. Humour, though sometimes subtle, is certainly there, and will definitely find appeal amongst British players as is suggested on the game's store page. I did not, however, come across any jokes that would be lost on a wider audience, so if the thought of foreign-culture humour in a game has you running for the hills, you can stop and turn around again quite safely. All characters are voiced, and animated smoothly. The first hint of the animation to come actually arrives on the title screen, where a noticeboard menu is held by a fella whose eyes follow the cursor around the screen, and birds get on with their natural business in the background. This makes for a very appealing introduction. Quality and attention to detail is everywhere. If you like your point-and-click games not too taxing, then there is an option to play an easier version from the start, where some of the more cerebral puzzles are omitted, giving you a less challenging ride through the game. When you save, an animated floppy disc appears and winks at you. Upon closely inspecting something, the whole graphic zooms in rather than abruptly switching shot. Although this is only a demo, it has the feel of a finished game which has been thoroughly conceived and well executed. If I was to look for anything that would give a more pleasing experience, it would be something like a “WHOOPS!” option for those moments when you accidentally fast-click on a caption to move it on, and inadvertently skip the next one; so you can go back and read it again. It would be even nicer to have a female lead option, though with the game being fully voiced, the additional time and financial demand on the development team would probably make this a stretch too far. Even so, as someone who generally does not like to play as a male character, in this instance I did not find it to be prohibitive at all. Overall, if you enjoy point-and-click games, puzzle games, or narrative ones, there is very likely something here for you, and for the 90 minutes or so that it will probably take to run through, you'll be pretty happy with your time commitment. A well-made game with nice puzzles and British sense of humor. Resembles the beloved good old Simon the Sorcerer 1 & 2 games. Overall, it's an enjoyable game and I had great time playing it. Highly recommended.

This rough diamond (ok, ok excellent game) looks like "The Legend of Kyrandia" and "Tales of Monkey Island", i like it. I hope the developers will not abandon this project and we will get a new masterpiece of adventure games. Thank you for refreshing pleasant memories from my childhood!
Finish this. I mean, really. The world needs more of --- Or well, the world of middle aged sad pandas needs more of this kind of games. More. And more. It was a wonderful rollback to the kind of games I used to adore and sadly disappered. Bring the point and click glory back.
I really enjoyed this, stunning graphics, brilliant voice acting and some really good puzzles, to me this is like the kebab of a demo meaning I really got a full taste of what's to come and not a piddly little mouthful. So folks if you want a decent tasty kebab of a game then download the demo you won't be left hungry.
This kind of games are my cup of tea, for sure. The controls were easy to handle, the graphics are very nice, the dialogs are funny and the trick with the hat was hillarious. Voice overs are well done. You really need to figure things out in order to get forward and be able to discover the puzzles you need to solve. Out of the box thinking is sometimes requierd. All in all, it was a fun game and I am looking forward to the release of the full version.
'Plot of the Druid: Nightwatch' is a short demo which takes about an hour to play through. It's a prologue to the upcoming game 'Plot of the Druid' which is currently set to release in 2023. The demo is meant to build excitement and showcase some of what the game will offer while hopefully garnering more supporters and backers. As a lifelong lover of Point & Click Adventure/Puzzle games I feel like it did a sufficient job of enticing me towards their future release. If this is truly representative of the game as a whole I think it shows a lot of promise. I really liked the hand drawn backgrounds and sprites, but I do feel like there's two art styles being used at the same time. One going for realism and one for cartoonish fun. The main character Jase, for example, along with the backgrounds in general is done with an eye towards more realism. However, when Jase transforms into his animal form it's very cartoonish. I noticed all the living animals seem cartoonish though so maybe that's just they way they want to depict animals vs. humans, but then the skull is a bit cartoonish as well and when compared next to Jase's head is enormously large. This kind of inconsistency is a little odd to me just because so much effort and care seems to have been taken with other aspects and details that matters of style and perspective seem like a place that shouldn't have been overlooked. Otherwise I really liked the detailed art and animations. I found this to be very reminiscent of games like King's Quest, Legend of Kyrandia, or Simon the Sorcerer (which it seems to draw the most inspiration from). This demo falls a little flat in comparison to those games though. I felt like the writing, while good, was a little off. I love British humor, but this just felt a little hit and miss in that department and I think that some of the motivations and story elements were either not well thought out or perhaps not expanded on enough. Jase just want's to get rich quick so he's going to steal a potion? Why, did he come to the school in the first place then? It seems at odds with someone who would want to go to a druid school in the first place and surely he would have known the expectations. It sounds like he's at the end of the school year, what kept him from learning these things in the first place? I feel like that just didn't make a ton of sense or it wasn't explained in a way that really lets us get into Jase's mindset. Other than that, most of the writing is decent and I enjoyed most of the dialogue options. The mechanics in this game are decent, but I disliked the inventory a bit. When you select something from the inventory and then try to use it on something else it doesn't stay as your active cursor, it disappears and you have to open the inventory back up and re-select the item again. If you always know where things need to go or be used then it's not a big deal but if you are randomly trying an inventory item because you're not quite sure where it should go then it get's tedious and annoying. The game offers two difficulty modes, an easier one with fewer puzzles and a harder one with more puzzles. I would say most of the puzzles are easy but not too simple. The solutions to some of the puzzles are a little harder than others and I did find myself having to try randomly using inventory items on different things at least twice before I figured out how to move forward. There is a hotspot feature so you can highlight all the interactive spots and when you move your cursor over them it will display a name if you can interact. Overall, I had fun playing this demo and I'm curious and excited about the upcoming release this serves as a prologue to. It has some negatives but it's positives greatly outweigh them. I'd recommend giving this demo a try. I think most people who are fans of the genre will appreciate and enjoy it. If you've never tried a point & click adventure game it's a short demo around an hour long that might give you a taste of what the genres about without investing too much money or time. So, why not give it a try and see if you like it.
I'd recommend this game, It is a good game with nice puzzles, nice art style with funny characters and pleasant gameplay. Overall, it's was a nice Point'n' click, it is a good prologue of what is yet to come.
