Planet of the Apes: Last Frontier

sleeper pretty fun little experience - roughly 3-4 hour long cinematic story game that has gameplay mostly limited to extremely easy QTEs and "this or that" choices but it ends up working pretty well as a story, looks good, and (for me) stays engaging the whole time! worth noting, if you look into anything about this game (kind of hard, it's mad obscure) the devs talked a LOT about playing it with friends being the best way to play it, and that IS true. had a ton of fun just essentially watching a long movie that we get to make group decisions about. does have some odd bugs / freezes, though, so be aware of that because the game seems to be pretty abandoned and there isn't really any community that cares about fixing things

This game is not perfect by any means, and I do wish there was a more open world RPG POTA game where you get to choose what ape you are and has a much longer story. That being said, this game is still really good for a Planet of the Apes game. The characters are compelling and the story is alright. The choices sometimes feel like they don't matter, but it feels like the movies. Even though we don't want Koba to kill humans, Taylor being treated like trash, and Dr. Hasslein to kill Cornelius and Zira, they were not going to change. They had their ideologies and convictions and truly believed it. So it makes some sense that the choices didn't fully change some outcomes. I only did one playthrough, and might try to do another at some point. So I saw the good ending as I wanted peace. The apes and humans managed to work it out, and the villains were beaten. It felt good, but I felt that same glumness that the movies have in their endings. It was a sad, yet hopeful ending. Kinda like Escape and War. I understand that this game was not for everyone, and I hope that we get one that shakes it up. Though I do think that if you are a Planet of the Apes fan you should play it because it has its positives.
